JUST IN: The Ethics Committee has launched an investigation into Rep. GAETZ for refusing to cooperate with initial inquiries about his veiled threat to reveal embarrassing information about Michael Cohen. Story TK.
Reached for comment, Gaetz didn't sound like he intends to cooperate with this new probe either:

"If members of Congress want to spend their time psychoanalyzing my tweets, it’s certainly their prerogative. I won’t be joining them in the endeavor. Too busy. “
NEW: A formal House Ethics Committee's investigation of Matt Gaetz was launched today after he blew off the panel's initial May 16 inquiry about this since-deleted tweet. politico.com/story/2019/06/…
It's *extremely* unusual for a complaint like this to come from a fellow lawmaker (this one originated from a member complaint in March). And it's even more unusual for a lawmaker to simply blow off the committee as Gaetz has done. politico.com/story/2019/06/…
Here's the full statement from the Ethics Committee, describing the initial complaint, Gaetz's recalcitrance and the formation of a new investigative subcommittee (2 Rs and 2 Ds) that can recommend sanctions. politico.com/story/2019/06/…
Gaetz deleted the Cohen tweet that night, and he apologized after @SpeakerPelosi issued this statement that didn't name him but encouraged the Ethics Committee to be "vigilant":
Gaetz is already facing a Florida Bar Association inquiry over the tweet after an initial review determined it could warrant discipline: politico.com/states/florida…
UPDATE: The Gaetz ethics complaint originated with Rep. Kathleen RICE, a NY Democrat and former prosecutor. A source familiar said Rice confrontedGaetz about his tweet the day he sent it and filed her formal complaint two weeks later. politico.com/story/2019/06/…
