This tweet is incredibly irresponsible but also par for the course from @PortlandPolice. Most importantly, it’s a lie that they promoted to push the notion that those who oppose fascism are the real criminals.
Portland Police did not receive information that there was cement in the milkshakes. They saw tweets from fascist sympathizers that they admire which were fabricated from out of state personalities and promoted the lie because they share a common enemy with the far right.
It goes without saying that Portland Police knew there was no cement in the milkshakes. When they found a group of patriot prayer members with snipers on a rooftop surrounding a protest, they did not tweet. It took journalists to uncover those facts.
It’s a sad day for Portland.
Never forget
Also let’s be clear who’s side they are on. They felt the need to warn the public about milkshakes that fascists across the country claimed were made of cement yet when they found the fascists with loaded guns ready to kill Portlanders, kept it silent. portlandmercury.com/blogtown/2018/…
@PortlandPolice has also been shown to coordinate with the fascist organizers, and continue to peddle the lies the alt right feed them. wweek.com/news/courts/20…
One of the reasons this is so important is because Alt-Right grifters need to paint the mayor and police chief as sympathetic to antifa in order to continue receiving money from idiotic conservatives, but it’s not accurate. It is however dangerous.
As @tedwheeler continues to feel pressure from the alt right, with whom he shares many ideologies and desperately wants to impress, he will double down his efforts to attack and persecute anti fascist organizers. That is what will come of this.
