‘Jury members, you have to decide whether Beech is guilty or not as charged. Many of Beech's claims were made when he was under no external pressures. He was not under any meaningful scrutiny.’
‘A clean pathway from telling lies of a criminal nature requires advanced sophistication. Carl Beech does not possess this sophistication. There is overwhelming evidence he has told repeated lies.’
‘Just apply common standards of common sense and decency, members of the jury, in reaching your decision. This man is a calculating paedophile. Spying on neighbours' children, covert filming of a friend of his son in his own home. Looking at indecent images of children.’
’... Then he lied and lied again. He is not a rational, decent person. He adopted false identities, numerous names, about a dozen. This was as normal to him as you starting the day with a cup of tea.’
‘Throughout, he was at no stage expecting to get caught. So much for general application. Now for details as he weaved his pattern of lies.’
‘He has tried to convince the police they were discovering something. The satisfaction of discovery.

He wove false evidence while purporting to convince the police he was reluctant to share details. Oldest trick in the book.’
‘He used the internet to back up his lies.

'No, I haven't been looking on the internet', he told the police. He uses info he has picked up on net by dropping bits of that info.

He is trying to convince police he has inside knowledge.’
‘Driven around London by police officers pointing to places, e.g. Dolphin Square, where he was abused. Info he had looked up on the internet!

He knows Heathrow Airport well so includes this as an abuse location.’
‘He lied about his friend John, who lives in Indonesia. John was NOT abused as a child, despite Beech's claims.

Beech has no concern about impact on all those he involves in his web of deceit.

He has no regard about whom he lies to.’
‘He uses half truths to manufacture his abhorrent stories.

He is manipulative as he weaves his duplicity.

He hides in plain sight. His hypocrisy is breathtaking. In October 2014 he writes to Met including 6 names of men who abused him...’
‘He had already been searching on internet how to make claims for compensation of having been a victim of sexual abuse.

A few days later 6 names become 12 names.

He invents a man called Aubrey... He feigns outrage.

Two police forces go looking for the non-existent Aubrey.’
‘Beech tries to wriggle out of Aubrey's involvement.

Beech presents himself as a caring, loving family man while looking at child pornography.’
‘A naked ‘selfie’ of Beech was shown to the court, yet had claimed he couldn't look at himself out of disgust for what had supposedly happened to him.

He had told Wiltshire police he didn't know names of his abusers, apart from his father and Jimmy Savile.’
‘They used code names, he claimed.’
‘Beech absconded overseas, skipping on-going investigation.

An international manhunt was set up. Why did he do so if he were telling the truth? He just had to give a straightforward account.’
‘He said he ran because he feared for his life at the hands of persons unknown. But the real reason was he had been caught out.

His long list of fabrications had been revealed. The whole miasma of lies had meant that Beech ran & ran & ran, holing up in a deep forest in Sweden.’
We’re back in court after a short break...

Prosecutor: ‘Beech perpetuates lies for his own selfish ends. He is lying for his own purposes.

He is not a deluded fantasist as he has acted deliberately to deceive. He has carefully worked to conceal his lies.’
‘Delusion is not the basis, but self-motivation. Deliberate creation, advancing falsehoods.

Beech has has continually advanced falsehoods and misdirected the police. He has lied and misled - nothing is based on delusion.’
‘It's all propelled by self-interest.

There are multiple versions of the same events.

When you are asked ‘does he believe in what he has claimed’, ask yourself: which version?

Page after page of utter falsehoods.

No regard for all those he involves in his series of lies.’
Prosecuting counsel: ‘A deluded fantasist has the courage of his or her convictions....he or she doesn't run away and hide.

Common sense, fairness need to be applied to this whole case.’
‘Who is Scott? There is no Scott, yet Beech claimed Scott was dead. He is merely the product of a warped mind.

Scott wasn't run over. Aubrey, Fred, Duncan... all made up. Beech claimed he saw Scott being run over. But he made it up...

Beech is a fictional story writer.’
‘He couldn't possibly have believed what he claimed was in any way true.

He was behind so many documents produced to support his claims.

He created endless false truths.

Beech writes and creates fiction.

‘Nurse, nurse’ [his book] ... was in fact Beech.’
‘Aubrey and John feature in the book. They morph later into the same person.’

[prosecuting counsel is dissecting Beech’s book]
‘He says in the book that he can't remember names of those who abused him... later, in front of the police, he was able to.

In the book the abuse stopped when he was 12; to the police he claimed he was 16.

Beech has always felt he could explain the inexplicable.’
‘Chapters in the book are graphic...

Overwhelming sexual content of the book. [Beech] is writing his own fantasies NOT his experiences.

Horrific, gratuitous, sexually-charged contents of the book but no names offered at any point. It is, as it seems - a fantasy.’
‘He writes of 'Aubrey's father’ being charged with the distribution of indecent images of children. Where did Carl Beech get this idea from?

Beech's lies are calculated and cruel in the extreme.’
‘Beech has caused so much pain to so many innocent people. His selfishness, his disregard for other people's feelings are palpable.’
