JUST IN: Prosecutors respond to Jeffrey Epstein’s excuse for why he had an Austrian passport.

Epstein said he never used it, but it had “numerous ingress and egress stamps,” including for France, Spain, the UK, and Saudi Arabia in the 80s. cc: @CourthouseNews
More specifically, Epstein’s attorneys hedged that the government had no evidence their client used the passport.

The government just responded, in sum and substance, “Uh, yeah we do.”

Not posting the doc because that’s the whole thing.
To be absolutely clear:

Epstein's attorneys heavily implied that the passport was a decoy that was not used, suggesting the gov't lack evidence to the contrary--but stopped short of *saying* it was not used.

Prosecutors just called that bluff.
This is also a great point by @nycsouthpaw.

Hard to read this passage by Team Epstein's last brief as meaning their client ever used this passport for foreign travel. It looks like a pretty clear claim he never used it.
Since there continues to be widespread confusion on this point, it bears repeating: The passport was always Austrian, but it listed a Saudi residence.

Plus, a point that got lost in the thread: This passage from Epstein's legal brief comes close to direct claim he never used it.
