It’s amazing that the new never-Trump take is that the Republican Party hadn’t been sowing the seeds of racism, sexism, nationalism, etc. for a long time before Trump, but rather that they were just being wrongly attacked by the left as doing so.
After the last week, it’s all about triage for these folks: How does the Republican Party recover after Trump? And, if they take any blame, they’ll actually have to rethink things. Instead, it’s far easier to blame the left and say Trump was a knee-jerk, extreme response to them.
And this isn’t just this thread. We’ve seen versions of this throughout the past week. The discussion about past presidential nominees, for example. It’s all an attempt to blame those seeking to correct course and address racism long before we got to Trump ... for Trump.

Leave it to @Twitter to fuck up on CATS day by suspending a verified comedian who changed his name to “Cats Movie” and then made jokes.
AND! Twitter itself decided to put the verified badge next to the identifier that they let us change! If they put the badge next to the actual username, which verified accounts can’t change or they lose verification, causing this sort of confusion wouldn’t be as easy.
I love that a literal tax lawyer came into my mentions to more or less say Twitter was right to suspend @jaboukie.

Even though they don't think my dad jokes are as cool as they did 6 years ago, Caroline, Alex, and Cam remind me every day why I do what I do.

They shape my perspective in office: I want my kids, and all Montana kids, to have every opportunity I had growing up here and more.
The first time I stood at this podium in 2013, our unemployment rate was 5.6%.

Now, at 3.7% it is the lowest it's been in a decade. More people are working than ever before in our state’s history.
