Yes, I know the picture is discussed in the story, but that picture put the claims against Franken in an entirely different category from, for example, the claims against Kavanaugh, which Mayer aggressively advanced with an extraordinarily dubious story of her own.
I mean, seriously? Look at the text below -- "six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney." They couldn't even confirm through other witnesses that Kavanaugh was AT THE PARTY. I couldn't believe the allegation was printed at the time.
Here was the New York Times follow-up. Not one witness corroborated the account. Ramirez herself expressed doubts. I'm still amazed the story was published.
