One thing that disappointed me in She-Ra seasons 2 and 3 was how little #RepKyle content we got. Even though we got Rogelio's name on screen, it feels like they completely dropped the background elements from season 1.
I know it was originally slipped into season 1 unofficially, but it feels like once everybody was aware of it, it got clamped down on rather than being written in or allowed to continue as it was. Which is... disquieting.
Maybe the concern was just that Kyle having a Large Lizard Boyfriend undermined his status as fate's chew toy with no friends.

But honestly, I think giving him one grace note (that he might not even realize) makes it more powerful.

I got pretty blase about my dude after I learned what sleep paralysis was. Like, I still felt the physiological effects of terror, but it would be like, "Oh, yeah... there he is."

Wish I could show this comic to teenage me. And also explain sleep paralysis.
My high school health and psychology textbooks both mentioned sleep paralysis, but super in passing as examples of a sleep disorder and it really failed to capture how extreme it could be.
Same thing with books on demons and spirits saying "Did you know? Sleep paralysis could be responsible for legends of incubuses and succubuses because people woke up and felt a weight on their chest!"

And, it's like... that wasn't what I had.

So this all here is a perfect example of what I mean when I talk about to Trump, if he doesn't own you, you're against him. Scavino/Trump's complaint is that Senator Brown and Mayor Whaley did not literally echo the White House PR party line, that it was AMAZING, etc.
It's not enough to give credit where credit is due, if you give due credit but repeat criticism that still applies, then "nothing is good enough".

Remember: Comey put Trump in the White House, but wouldn't swear allegiance. NYT helped Trump win, but won't fawn over him.
Then there's the strategic. It's not good "optics" for Trump's people to acknowledge when Democrats give him credit, because it undermines his narrative that they just complain no matter what he does so the complaints should be ignored.

I have been gathering thoughts to talk about the algorithm/shadowbanning fears, but... this is the basics.

They shadowban very little.

And separate from the algorithm, people miss things. More than you would guess.
The right has been decrying "shadowbans" any time one of their valid, unlocked tweets gets "the tweet cannot be displayed", which is more often a server problem. Twitter's servers are a cloud of servers, and our position within them optimized based on who we tend to interact with
Part of how they killed the Fail Whale and improved the general impression of server uptime is allowing the servers to fail quietly and gracefully in small ways rather than catastrophically.

Falling with style.

The replace-libraries-with-Amazon thing is such a fascinating microcosm of the wretchedness of our current take culture.
First some hapless, unheard-of practitioner of the dismal science has, as is his discipline's wont, a very rational and logical epiphany about the market inefficiency of an institution whose very purpose is to provide a service outside the market.
In times of yore the take would have been read by a few other academics, or perhaps raised some eyebrows in a regional paper, and in either case been promptly forgotten.

Happy to oblige! The biggest reason that a few frameworks dominate the landscape is probably straightforward inertia. Most devs (those of use who chat about this stuff on Twitter are NOT representative) don't want to investigate and learn alternatives; they have better things 1/
to do, and engineering PMs aren't picking the 'best' technology, they're picking the safe one that means they'll be able to hire some poor sap to maintain everything a couple of years down the line. Nobody ever got fired for buying IBM. These dynamics favour incumbents. 2/
So does the cacophony of options. Why do tech meetups always serve pepperoni pizza, even though almost no-one would actually *choose* it given alternatives? Because it's something that very few people will object to. It gets the job done — it's 'good enough'. 3/
