Anthony Watts reports that Mann's libel suit against Tim Ball has been dismissed and that Ball has been awarded costs.

I thought long ago that Ball and Frontier should have moved that Mann post a bond against costs, since he's out of jurisdiction.
2/ I hope that Mann pays his obligations promptly, but I fear that he will prove to be a deadbeat litigant.
2/ Mann says facebook.com/permalink.php?… that Ball's successful motion to dismiss was due to delay on Mann's part and that Mann has right to appeal within 30 days. Mann says that court "order relating to costs does NOT mean that I will pay Ball’s legal fees."
3/ if Mann appeals, Ball should insist that Mann post a bond for a legal costs, if that is possible under BC law.

OIG stated that Comey memos were government property, rejecting false and implausible Comey claim that the memos were his personal property.

Question: did Comey's wrongful assertion of title amount to conversion of government property, a crime under 18 USC 641? If not, why not?
2/ 18 USC 641 law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18… states that "Whoever ... knowingly converts to his use ... any record, ... of the United States or of any department or agency thereof" has committed a crime.

Let's look at the legal definition of "conversion".

I presume that Trump's response to Elizabeth Warren would be a much coarser version of Winston Churchill's response to Lady Astor.
The exchange that I had in mind was:

Astor: “If you were my husband, sir, I’d give you a dose of poison!”
Churchill: “If I were your husband, I’d willingly take it!”

The joke appears to pre-date Churchill's use of it.
A similar repartee also attributed to Churchill:

Astor: Winston, you are drunk, and what’s more you are disgustingly drunk.

Churchill: My dear, you are ugly, and what’s more, you are disgustingly ugly. But tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be disgustingly ugly.

1/ In addition to the only evidence for Mifsud being Pap's Jan 2017 "recollection", the ONLY evidence for !April 26! (as opposed to, say, Mar 14 or 24) is Pap AFTER arrest. If, after arrest, Pap was trying to explain his statement that Mifsud told him BEFORE he joined Trump
2/ campaign, he had a very plausible argument (IMO) that he didn't know for sure that Trump had accepted Clovis' recommendation until Trump actually made the official announcement in late March. He could plausibly claim another couple of weeks as he transitioned from LCILP job.
3/ the April 26 date was by far the worst for him relative to his claim to have got info from Mifsud BEFORE joining Trump campaign. There is NO other evidence for !April 26! than Papadop himself. So why did he pick !April 26! ? As Hans said, Pap composed to please Mueller.

1. Many major claims in DNC-funded “Steele Dossier” remain unproven: “golden showers”; Carter Page is a Russian agent; Aleksej Gubarev, helped Kremlin hack DNC (Gubarev filed libel suit against Steele; Page filed a libel suit against the DNC).

Points to consider in this thread:
2. Steele pushed a Trump-Russia conspiracy via reporters in US during 2016 who didn’t reveal that a DNC-funded operative was the source of those stories. When US press published his dossier, many in the public believed it validated 2016 news stories that…Steele himself promoted.
3. Big open questions: Was Steele, a trusted source according to Comey, attempting to be genuinely helpful to the US, or was he was manipulating US politics independently (was he anti-Trump?), or was he being used (unwittingly?) by the MI6 or Kremlin to manipulate US politics?

1. This is a BIG deal, obviously. However, it is actually an even bigger deal when put into context with prior inquiry by Senator Grassley about FBI manipulating 302's.

2. The current issue is Senator Grassley suspecting Andrew McCabe manipulated the FD-302 investigative notes from FBI Special Agent's Peter Strzok and Joe Pientka, after they interviewed Mike Flynn.
3. There is enough sketchy and contradictory information giving weight to a likelihood that Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe told FBI agents (Strzok and Pientka) to shape their FBI reports of the interview (FD-302’s) to assist a “Flynn lied” narrative.

Van der Zwaan has been in the news recently as he has been indicted by Robert Mueller on February 20, 2018, for lying about his contact with Rick Gates for work they did in the Ukraine. He also confessed to deleting e-mail exchanges.

Van der Zwaan pleaded guilty to it. At the time, Gates and Paul Manafort had not pleaded guilty (Gates has, apparently, switched this on February 23, 2018 and has pleaded guilty himself).

2. 2005 Trump sues the author of Trump Nation for claiming he's not a billionaire, but worth between $150 & $250 Million. Trump LOST because he had a history of lying, the sources were solid, and HE COULDN'T PROVE HE WAS A BILLIONAIRE.
3. Later on, Trump bragged to friends that it was worth losing, because he had made the author of the book's life miserable over the lawsuit.
