Dear @kroger @Publix @Albertsons @Walmart etc., you can either pay enough cashiers to where I don't have more than 3 people in front of me in line or pay someone to put the groceries I loaded in my cart back on the shelf because that's what I'm doing from now on. 1/
Self checkout lines may be fine for some people but if I am looking for a job I'll just ask to fill out an application rather than filling a cart full of groceries and seeing if there's one available that I can do for free. 2/
Hell, @AldiUSA might make me bag my own groceries but at least they hire someone to do the checkout half for me, and they are way cheaper than all of you. I'm sick of this obvious effort to force the self checkout lines. 3/
The last grocery store in my area to hire enough cashiers will be the last one to get my business. Just one man's opinion. And if ALL the stores start doing it I guess I'll just go Amazon Prime Now from now on. 4/

Some additional thoughts on the Karem/Gorka dustup from my experience covering the Trump campaign in 2016. 1/
Covering Trump as a member of the media is a... unique experience. Trump's handlers always put the media at the back of the room (which is fine and I actually found it hilarious how bent out of shape some reporters got by this... get over yourselves). 2/
But it does kind of quickly lose the humor value even from watching reporters with overinflated senses of self importance squirm. Because in every one of these rally speeches I attended (and he's continued the practice) he spends a huge amount of time pointing at reporters... 3/

Watched the final episode of Chernobyl last night. What a great TV production. Definitely belongs in the conversation for greatest miniseries ever. So of course, we have to discuss the modern political implications. I apologize in advance. 1/
I think conservatives who watch the show enjoy the fact that the Soviet communist cult was largely responsible for both the disaster itself and the embarrassingly bad response on the part of the Soviet government. 2/
It is also a fact, which the show does a good job of emphasizing, that this is a specific feature of communism and that it sprang forth as a direct result of the communist belief system which emphasizes the sanctity of the state. All well and good. 3/

Hello, people at @snopes. I see that you have “fact checked” another obvious satire article from the Babylon Bee that lampoons a liberal, and I have questions. 1/
If you guys wanna beclown yourselves fact checking obvious satire that’s your business. But surely you are equally interested in fact checking the Babylon Bee’s satire that lampoons conservatives. Right? You’re not partisan hacks after all. Right? 2/
So perhaps you could direct me to where you guys fact checked the “claim” that Sean Hannity said that the existence of ice cream disproves global warming, as “reported” by the Babylon Bee? babylonbee.com/news/if-global… 3/

Last week, USL filed what seems to me to be an important trademark infringement complaint against UPSL. It's worth taking a few moments to understand its significance in the overall scheme of the US Soccer landscape
On one level, it's similar to the US Soccer Foundation's lawsuit against USSF in that USL is arguing that UPSL's marks are sufficiently similar that they have a tendency to confuse consumers and sponsors and therefore constitute trademark infringement under the Lanham Act
The similarity of the names is part of the source of the alleged confusion: UPSL is only one letter different than USL, which impacts web address for instance. More importantly, UPSL and USL now both have the same Championship and League 1/One names for their lower levels

It's the night before thanksgiving. It's cold and wet outside. #CampFire evacuees are still bracing the elements and looking for shelter. Here are some images I'd like to share some images from my time exploring the Chico Walmart parking lot, a temporary refuge for some.
Folks like Sarah, Martin and James, from Magalia, have made the most out of their circumstance. A parking spot was their living room. They set up a propane heater (which was stolen in the middle of the night later) and a television to watch the latest news on the #CampFire.
Brenda Wilson tried very hard to keep her dog Scooby warm. The dog was shivering. She slept in the car. She was cold herself. She was distraught and wanted to go home. When I spoke to her, she had no idea if her home survived the #CampFire.

Walmart insists you show a receipt. They can’t do that. 1) you didn’t sign a membership agreement (aka Costco) and 2) once you buy a product, they’re searching your property. You have the right to refuse. @Walmart any comments on how your worker treated my mother?
2) She behaves differently pre-recording. My mother had to go into Walmart for a can of paint (we avoid at all costs) and she insinuated my mother was stealing when she said “no” to the receipt check. She threatened to call a manager.
(3) the manager arrived. Allowed her to belittle the customer and speak in a patronizing tone. She then doesn’t like hearing the word “sh*t”? Please 🙄 #walmart #KnowYourRights #Shopping #CustomerService

1) Since my mainstream colleagues are more interested in ice than facts, allow me to provide a few. Today, Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley sent letter to all 10 Ds on his committee.
2) It was response to a Sept. 26 letter demanding withdrawal of Kavanaugh nomination, based in part on Swetnick allegations. Grassley letter begins by noting that yesterday, Swetnick backtracked on basic allegations in interview with NBC news.
3) (It was in fact total collapse of her claims, tho he politely refrained from saying so.) Grassley notes he has enclosed another timeline of his actions to investigate all claims, including those that were "frivolous" but that he took up "out of respect for my colleagues."
