Hello, people at @snopes. I see that you have “fact checked” another obvious satire article from the Babylon Bee that lampoons a liberal, and I have questions. 1/
If you guys wanna beclown yourselves fact checking obvious satire that’s your business. But surely you are equally interested in fact checking the Babylon Bee’s satire that lampoons conservatives. Right? You’re not partisan hacks after all. Right? 2/

I mean, I could go on and on but since I know you aren’t actually partisan hacks who are pretending to be objective fact checkers, I’m sure there is a roughly equal number of these Babylon Bee articles lampooning conservatives that you’ve fact checked, and I’m missing them. 8/
Although admittedly, the search function on your website is possibly giving the wrong impression on that score. 9/
Meanwhile, so far as I can tell, this is the only one of dozens (hundreds?) of Bee articles lampooning conservatives that I can find that Snopes bothered to check snopes.com/fact-check/jim… 10/

Wanna give a shout out to @AmericanAir for not requiring the guy who sat next to me on my last flight to purchase two tickets even though he could not prevent himself from spilling a good four inches into the space occupied by my seat. 1/
Super happy right now that I have a sore back and hip from having to sit canted at a 20 degree angle for two hours and that I had my elbow banged by the cart every time it came by since I was being forced to lean out into the aisle. 2/
I wanna say this here: I am super libertarian and I don't judge people for being whatever size they are. I don't know this guy's life. Maybe he has a thyroid problem. It's none of my business. I'm certainly not small. 3/

Let’s make some f***en chilaquiles. Chilaquiles are a Mexican dish that’s a little off the beaten path in America, which is a f***en shame because it’s one of the breakfasts you can have. And like all breakfasts, it’s the best meal any time of the day. #CookingForAssholes 1/
Now, this is not gonna be a traditional chilaquiles. Now normally when I change up a traditional recipe, it’s to save you hopeless assholes some labor, or pre-planning, or to account for the fact that asking you to cook is probably negligence per se on my part. 2/
In this case, however, changing chilaquiles in order to make them taste better, and also easier to cook in the process. So you will shut up and like it because you’re the one taking food advice from a stranger on the Internet, not me. 3/

I think, in general, it's really a lot to ask for most people to be cool and analytical about an allegation that is raised RIGHT before a confirmation vote to seat someone on the swing SCOTUS seat. 1/
I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying it's a natural reaction. The timing of this could not possibly be less calculated to lead to an honest discovery of the truthfulness (vel non) of this woman's accusations. So what should be done? 2/
I think more should be done to encourage an ethos where women feel safe and empowered to come forward in the immediate aftermath of sexual assault. If Ford had raised her accusation when Brett Kavanaugh was just a 17-year-old high school student... 3/

#Fact 1 - The Wage Gap is real. People who says it's not haven't read the data.

However, in places like the USA, the wage gap is *not* mostly due to sexism like many #femnist #WomenInScience are claiming it is today. Disparate outcomes doesn't imply disparate treatment.
Women typically choose fields that are lower paying; even in the #STEM fields. To attribute that to sexism only or even mostly is a very dishonest way of deriving an answer for this complex disparity.

what centrist pundits praising Trump's speech reflect is not just how cynically effective it was, what dupes they are, or how consonant centrism is with authoritarian white supremacy (all true) but how pathetic, uncharismatic, and misbegotten any current liberal alternatives are
it happened. he remains president. he delivered a variety of trollish appropriations of social justice language, cunningly designed by his speech writers. he venerated the war machine. he used dogwhistles instead of outright slurs, and deployed people and their pain as props.
the blunt fact is that there is no real capacity in contemporary mainstream media or liberal political discourse for articulating how and why all of those things are fundamentally inhuman and wrong. so instead: fact-checking, policy critique, and performance scorecards.
