it’s happened. police are beating people up in the mtr platform
meanwhile the woman with the RP british accent continues making a broadcast in the background about a “serious incident” in the MTR station. it’s like the fade out scene in a black mirror episode.
police on prince edward platform trying to stop apple daily from filming. the reporter says a train is still at the platform, and more police are coming in
apple daily reporter says he can’t get thru to see what’s happening up ahead. some civilians are allowed to leave.
yup still more police going into prince edward station
apple daily breathless live feed says it’s utter chaos in kwun tong mtr station where police rushed inside to arrest ppl. lots of civilians there too wearing normal clothes. cops carrying rifles.
civilian mother and daughter very distraught in kwun tong seen talking to police
a man in a red shirt hit reporters in kwun tong. reporters now shouting after police why they’re letting him go but he’s now seen surrounded by police
debris in YMT station including a bloody umbrella. a young protester seen in a wheelchair with blood on his shirt. first aiders tending to many injured.
a woman being interviewed described what happened in the mtr at PE - said police beat ppl w batons after squeezing them into the middle of a train. she said at least 4 ppl had to be taken away on an ambulance. this is fucking horrific.
complete chaos- as that interview was ending a woman was heard screaming as police chased her up the escalator
a police shouts at someone and is threatening to arrest them for obstructing police outside PE station
really emotional man in YMT caught up in the violence asks why the subway now serves the police and not the people. he said he was just going out for some shopping earlier after a visit to a hospital.
are police just going to go to every mtr station now to assault people? this is kowloon bay
wow some MTR employees came out to talk to press but when they were asked why police were allowed to enter the control room they shrugged and left
shutting down every MTR line one by one so people can’t get home
a swelling crowd here outside MK police station, police says all our faces are being recorded
cars honking in support
police holding blue flag at MK police station very loud cries of “triads”
someone’s just started blasting “do you hear the people sing”
a warning now from police they may use force to clear crowds outside MK police station
another shot of police assaulting civilians in a train carriage
there’s no point shining these lights at hundreds of people who are extremely pissed of @hkpoliceforce give it a break
the people’s daily and the people’s daily’s subway
more honking cars
it’s actually unreal that after what happened tonight the human-recorder police officer who’s been repeating the message to disperse from here does it as if anybody takes police authority seriously anymore
what are they planning to do with injured ppl inside the station? i just had a flashback to a particular episode of killing eve season 2
police start to edge out from behind their protective net after someone threw something made of glass at the station
almost non-stop support from cars at this junction of prince edward road and nathan road
a car just drove past where the passenger held up an ipad that said “school bus for kowloon east and tseung kwan o” - meaning they’re “picking up protesters from school”
this is embarrassing @hkpoliceforce. sounds like xinhua or something running their PR dept
side by side 8/31 and 7/21
new loud chant of “triads” if you can hear it against the car horns
blue flag raised from western side of police station, a large number of people without gear - which is most ppl here - moving to a safer position now
riot police seen coming southward on nathan road
people dispersing on nathan road now pushing towards MK
just across the road from riot police an old granny who is always in PE sits folding her cardboard
HK people are pretty used to MTR outages by now anyway
after police cleared the area and retreated ppl are back at the police station
new chant: “hk police are perverted scumbags”
as per @HongKongHermit’s live feed, there are rubbed mats being laid out next to a line of ambulances here. i also saw a mobile medical treatment ambulance earlier. are police planning to bring up casualties from the subway station?
the ambulances and mats are here on the northern side of PE MTR exits
a video showing earlier when a first aider pleaded w police at a closed subway station to let him in to help. as i said, we don’t know if people are still hurt without aid inside the station
ok this isn’t a UCAS form guys
a police w a riot shield peeking above this lovely mural
a man told me ppl are waiting here for police to bring up injured ppl from exit E of prince edward. he said about two hours ago more police went inside but he’s only seen about 3 emerge since then. unsettling to think what might be happening inside.
a MTR employee just said that there’s no one inside PE station. ppl outside say they don’t believe it as they think it’s a ploy to get ppl to leav and not take photos when the casualties are brought up.
the employee apparently motioned w his hand that the ppl “went that way” pointing northward. many ppl now wondering whether police took the injured ppl on a train to lai chi kok.
i asked these first aiders about whether there’s actually nobody left inside PE station. they said they don’t know and they’re also seeking information
almost 2.30am and ppl in low 100s still here. every time the police woman repeats her message to disperse she’s drowned out by heckling and car horns.
i only see one ambulance around. earlier there was a long line of them.
those ppl guessed right - the injured ppl were surreptitiously transported to LCK after police refused entry to first aiders into the station and no one came out for hours
is this better or worse than the “instructions” from HK police tonight to journalists? (scroll up)
3am. still residents occupying every corner of this junction outside MK police station. still a lot of cars.
a man was explaining to someone what happened to the injured ppl in prince edward station. “the police lured everyone here while they used the subway to ferry ppl away so ppl can’t see the injuries. the MTR is the private transport of HK police now”
police justify their actions in subway station tonight and say protesters first vandalised stations, and then changed outfits to “pretend to be civilians.” they arrested 40 ppl inside Prince Edward station. “we ask those civilians who were attacked inside tonight to report to us”
as this post says, there shouldn’t be a distinction between “protester” and “civilian”
police now saying its “rioters’ actions” that forced them to take actions like shutting down transport and that the rioters are the ones who are disturbing everyone in the city
reporter asked about why “civilians” were assaulted and the police officer continues to say protesters were changing clothes
police also denied the characterisation of their actions as “beating up people”. still going on about protesters changing outfits.
police said no matter who is injured they make sure they can get access to an ambulance as soon as possible. pretty sure that wasn’t the case tonight.
more footage surfacing today of yesterday’s police actions in the subway
Education University student union leader was among those arrested last night in Prince Edward station
now riot police patrol streets in broad daylight when there’s no protests or anything
