I was near where cops hopped a barricade to take out a street medic. A cop who was clearly too spooked to operate properly in that environment brandished his OC spray at everyone nearby....

He stood ten feet in front of me, his eyes wild, a hand in front and threatening to fire. My hands were up, and I told him he was safe, that nobody was going to hurt him. He wore tactical gear and probably had 50-80lb on me. And he was terrified....

This man was set up to fail. Regardless of his intentions, whether he was a bloodthirsty person or the true “guy just trying to do his job with the minimum of hassle”, he had been staged perfectly by his superiors and his training to hurt somebody today....

I don’t know why he didn’t light me up with that OC spray. We were at point blank range, it would have been shitty.

But this is exactly how your friendly neighbor who happens to be a cop ends up hurting people and inadvertently serving the ends of fascists....

As long as we let our police departments and unions “other” non-cops, they will continue to serve authoritarianism regardless of the humanity behind the badge.

Anyway, it’s a damn shame that this entire situation happened.

To save ourselves, ALL OF US, we must fight on.
