A thread on the search for Master Cpl. Patrik Mathews:

Today the Canadian Press reported American authorities believe Mathews jumped the border and is somewhere in the U.S.

What hasn’t been reported is when U.S. border services were notified Mathews was missing.

And that’s because the RCMP refuses to say.

Here’s what we do know:

Mathews was reported missing Aug. 26. The Mounties didn’t find his abandoned truck until one week later on Sept. 2. They said it appeared it had been parked there for about a week.

This indicates it’s likely Mathews headed towards the U.S.-Canada border shortly after going missing. His truck was found abandoned on a rural property 1-2 KMs from Minnesota.

Mathews, who was—and potentially still is—a member of the neo-Nazi paramilitary group The Base, obviously has extensive connections to neo-Nazis in the U.S.

Today a Mountie spokesman told me: “I do not have a date or time as to when the U.S. Border Patrol was notified...”

He added: “It is possible (Mathews) may have entered the U.S. but we have no evidence of this at this time.”

When I contacted U.S. border services to ask the same question, they declined comment. Instead, they referred me back to the RCMP—who cannot or will not say.

Why does this matter? Because unless the RCMP comments it will continue to remain unclear if the proper U.S. authorities were given notice this guy may be headed their way.

Did the Mounties take quick action to notify U.S. border services Mathews was missing and might be headed south given his extensive contacts with the neo-Nazi movement there?

Or were U.S. authorities only notified after his truck turned up 1-2 KMs away from the border a full week after it is believed to have been abandoned there?
