Please note: In my next few tweets, I’m going to quote a judge who used anti-Semitic racial slurs while talking about Randy Halprin, a Jewish death row prisoner in Texas. This bigoted judge had enormous influence at Randy's trial and sentenced him to death.
Former judge Vickers Cunningham referred to Randy Halprin, a Jewish defendant on trial for his life, as "that fuckin' Jew" and a "goddamn kike." Cunningham also said that Jews "needed to be shut down because they controlled all the money and all the power."
Speaking about his time on the bench, former judge Vickers Cunningham said any "nigger or wetback" walking into his courtroom knew they were going to go down. Cunningham sentenced several people of color to death.
Former judge Vickers Cunningham had enormous influence at Randy Halprin's death penalty trial. Cunningham ruled on all pretrial motions, challenges during jury selection, and objections during the trial. Cunningham prevented the jury from hearing compelling mitigation evidence.
It was later revealed that former judge Vickers Cunningham set up a trust so that his children would only get an inheritance if they married a white person.
Randy Halprin should get a new trial NOW. The judge at Randy's original trial called him a "fuckin' Jew" and a "goddamn kike." This CANNOT stand.
There should also be an independent review of every single case Vickers Cunningham heard while he was a judge or handled when he was a prosecutor. How can the public trust any decision Cunningham made while occupying a position of power?
