Five years ago, on the advice of colleagues from the US, our patron-Mary Mungai-reached out to #IFNA to share the work #NurseAnesthetists are doing in Kenya. In IFNA we found an international home where we could share experiences & learn from our peers across the world 1/
Having had the privilege of attending the World Congress of #NurseAnesthetists with other African colleagues, it became clear 2 them & #IFNA leadership that something needs to be done to create access to #CME forums-particularly from LMIC, who are unable to attend such events 2/
As a result, #IFNA has asked Kenya to host the first Pan African Nurse Anesthetists Conference in June 2020 #PANAC2020

This event hopes to bring together #NurseAnesthetists working on the continent for three days of learning, sharing, fun and building lasting collaborations 3/

Five years ago, almost to the day, I arrived in England on a KLM flight at Norwich airport, bleary-eyed after packing a moving truck until 4am. Now, in a few weeks, I'll be flying to Stuttgart, to a city I'll be calling home again. /1
For the first 2 years of our time in England, I taught, continuing my career of 10 years - first as a supply teacher in Great Yarmouth, then as head of a Humanities department in Lowestoft.

It was a time unlike any I'd experienced previously. It's a time I'll never forget. /2
In 2015 we moved again, to Luton. It was a town very different from the seaside town I'd spent a year in previously, but I grew to love it.

In 2016 however, I quit teaching. The demands of the system were too much, and, as I would find out later, I was being hamstrung by ADD. /3

The day I found out that Christine Blasey Ford and her family had fled their home and were living out of hotels because of death threats, I remembered what had happened to Zoe. To Anita. To Brianna. And then I also remembered what happened to me, just last year.
I haven't written about what happened last summer until now. But it won't be the last I have to say about it.

Five years ago I was motivated to publicly challenge disinformation about “Irish slavery” when I saw @Rubberbandits, various other influential Irish personalities & an Irish national newspaper sharing a particularly insidious piece of propaganda. We’ve all come a long way since.
The propaganda that was in high circulation at that time included the following false claims (which I then spent years debunking, contextualising and refuting, line by line, as the general explanation was not effective)

1. That an “Irish slave trade” operated from 1625 to 1839.
2. That “the Irish experienced the horrors of slavery as much (if not more in the 17th Century) as the Africans did.”

3. That “Irish slaves” were treated “worse” than enslaved Africans.

4. That “Irish slaves” were “cheaper” than enslaved Africans.

LK Advani, who is the BJP's most senior member, laid the condition before the BJP that he should become the Prime Ministerial candidate, but Narendra Modi got spoiled.
Modi directly threatened that the candidate of the PM should be
made him and spent the last Lok Sabha election with Ambani-Adani and media management would do the same.
After hearing this, the entire BJP comes in the problem.

Five years ago today, two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Three people died, and hundreds were injured. Later that week, all hell broke loose in the Boston area. We still don't know who built the bombs.
In 2015, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found guilty of bombing the marathon and killing an MIT police officer. He was sentenced to death. The FBI seems to have moved on. But key facts in the case are missing. This is a thread about the loose ends.
The bombings happened on Marathon Monday, April 15, 2013, at around 2:50pm. For days, the government wouldn't say anything about whether it had suspects. Then, on Thursday April 18, at around 5:20pm, the FBI released photos of its suspects.
