I wonder how much money I can make being the kind of asshole who writes super serious critical reviews of budget motels.

I've been processing this news for the past ten hours, and I keep coming back to the same thing. It's all I can think about, really.

When I served in the military, we would often do ruck marches, especially if you're in the infantry. (thread)
You put on a 35 lbs. rucksack with full gear and march distances of 12, 15, 18 miles (sometimes more) at a brisk pace, and it was a point of pride to do that well a handful of times a year. It's exhausting. It really tests your fortitude.
Because our feet would be covered with blisters, our muscles would ache, and some among us, soldiers with peak physical conditioning, would pass out from dehydration or exhaustion. You get what I'm saying? Marching just 12 miles with that gear could break you in half.

There are so many interesting ways to approach a game concept like this that are thoughtful, and this feels like the game creator(s) didn’t really put much effort into reflecting on it.

Important context: Obama won reelection with 51% of the vote and Bush 41 lost reelection with a dismal 37% of the vote.

It might be interesting political candy to do this side-by-side comparison, but it's ultimately meaningless.
And I'm not saying polls are meaningless. They're not. I'm saying that comparing numbers from two different political eras with wildly different contexts--because let's face it, this administration is way, way, way outside the group--makes no sense. At all.
The "here's how presidents stacked up at this point in their tenure" schtick might have marginal utility in answering niche questions, but it's a useless exercise to predict how a current occupant will do in their next election.

Very interesting stuff Guy. Some thoughts from me, particularly on heat but also other research/experiences:
I 100% agree with your thoughts on devolution of planning and heat (see email) but I am deeply concerned by the lack of expertise at a local level and therefore the capacity for lobbying (see Leeds). Local governance must be supported by central govs' analytical capacity.
One area (highlighted by my PhD) which could help which we don't have is a central energy data/expertise body like a UK Energy Association which keeps cost data, performance data etc (see Denmark EA or ECN in Netherlands). This could be linked to architect but independence needed

I am in federal court for a pre-trial hearing for Rick Koerber, who was convicted in one of Utah's biggest fraud cases. He was ordered to surrender to U.S. Marshals 15 minutes prior to the hearing on a pre-trial release violation.

Koerber arrived with 4 minutes to spare and told me he had no comment. In court, Judge Warner ordered him brought up. Koerber is now in shackles.
