Funny story: three years ago last month, @BrennanCenter filed a public records (FOIL) request with the NYPD, asking for information about their predictive policing program. At the time, we thought they were using Palantir, and we wanted to know more. 1/ brennancenter.org/sites/default/…
The NYPD issued a one-page denial letter two weeks later, saying that they couldn’t give us any information – literally not a single page – because that information, “if disclosed, would reveal non-routine techniques and procedures.” Huh. 2/ brennancenter.org/sites/default/…
We appealed, obvs, b/c the NYPD hadn’t remotely satisfied its burden under FOIL: it didn’t provide any specific information about why it was denying our request, & we were pretty sure the stated exemption didn’t apply in the first place. 3/ brennancenter.org/sites/default/…

Because my memory is slightly better than a goldfish, and it happens I can remember what happened three years ago.
The month leading up to the referendum, it was all Johnson and Gove. Vote Leave, and their monkeybus.
They were the official campaign, and the media treated them accordingly, with constant presence, saturation across all stations.
Fartage was nowhere in that. But what happened as soon as the referendum result came in? can you remember? Because I fuckin can.

In fact, this tweet of twattish moronity tells me we need to go through the whole thing AGAIN.
In the beginning David Cameron misused a referendum to try and solve a problem of racist and jingo bigotry in his own back benches.
And Boris Johnson decided to exploit that to beef up his euro sceptic credentials to grease his way into Downing Street.
You can see the ploy. Johnson was convinced he was going to be facing Osborne in the leadership contest, and he knew that would be tough, so he went for the euro sceptic vote.
