So for a second time today, I do a factoring like Crown Sterling, this time using my MacBook Air. It took 312 seconds.
I'm using "cado-nfs", which people think is the software they are using. My MacBook Air fewer, slower CPUs than the MacBook Pro in the Crown Sterling video.
Hmm. CPU meter said it was only using 50%. I up the threads to 4 (-t 4 parameter), and got slightly better time of 264 seconds. MackBook Air is 2 CPUs, but hyperthreaded, so 4 threads is appropriate.

The latest MacBook Pro is 6 CPUs, with option for 8 CPUs.
If you are trying to compile "cado-nfs" on MacOS Mojave and getting gf2x config errors, this is the link you were looking for:
donatstudios.com/MojaveMissingH…
Otherwise, you need "brew install gmp cmake bc".
What you also see is that I downloaded the source for openssl-1.0.0s and compiled (./config; make) so I could generate small keys:

./openssl genrsa -out foo.pem 256
