With each passing day, the Conservative Party is mirroring the Republican Party ever the more. They’re willing to tolerate a leader who does things/says things they never would have been willing to countenance previously just because they think he’ll bring them electoral success.
The line seems not to exist for the GOP. I wonder, if in the coming weeks, we will discover whether or not it does for the Tories and if so, whether enough of them have the same threshold and willingness to do something about it?
The consistent theme of this decade, across the Atlantic, is a slow nervous breakdown on the right.
The Labour Party meanwhile is in a rather different position. Many of their MPs have a leader they’re sure won’t bring them electoral success, would love to get rid of but can’t.

Good old British politics.
The other way Boris Johnson resembles Donald Trump is that there was a widespread assumption that they would change their behaviour/characteristics once they took office. Neither did.
