On Dec 12th 2019 I cried.

Every #Tory MP who signed up to #GetBrexitDone” however utterly sh*t it was, at THAT MOMENT, sealed our fate.

Personal ambition & greed trumped any sense of public duty or responsibility.

ANYTHING @BorisJohnson wanted to do was made possible.
1/
His wealthy backers & sycophantic MP & media facilitators rubbed their hands w/ glee, no-one could touch him now!

A man lacking any moral compass who dreamed of being king, a terrifying combination, both disastrous for the UK & lethal for many 1000s.

He simply does not care!
2/ ImageImageImage
From #Sewage on our beaches to the collapse of the #NHS, he does not care.

From sitting maskless & asleep beside #DavidAttenborough to departing #COP26 in a private jet, he does not care.

For the 1000s of avoidable #COVID deaths & 1000s more w/ #LongCovid, he does not care.

There are many layers to the #Covid19UK human catastrophe but IMO it’s all DELIBERATE @mrjamesob

Not even @BorisJohnson is so ignorant that he can’t understand the seriousness of what is currently unfolding.

The crux is - HE WANTS IT TO HAPPEN!

If you were looking for the perfect foil for the #BrexitShambles & #NHSPrivatisation in one fell swoop AND you wanted to divert attention from the cronyism & corruption being uncovered every single day….you’d create as much chaos, fear & desperation as possible….
2/
….carefully positioning your scapegoats (the EU/drs/nurses/teachers/refugees….

You’d allow #COVIDDisinformation to run riot, including from the @UKHSA (& conveniently replace #PHE), whilst churning out a #COVIDisOver narrative through a compliant media.

#Brexitdeal summary: Boris #Johnson had no deal to propose when he proposed a deal with the EU and so made one up on the fly, which he didn't read and so didn't understand what he wasn't reading, which he delegated to his subordinate ministers which they also didn't read so…
1/ …that the final agreements wasn't ever read by anyone in Cabinet yet signed by everyone in Cabinet who was then responsible through the collective accountability which they all individually lacked, for the final agreement which they also had not read.
2/ This was awkward for them when the Deal they had not read studied or considered but sold as oven-baked turned out to be, objectively, the worst Deal in history since it reduced sovereignty, handed over independence, created uncontrolled borders and did so at significant…

"The PM believes the Withdrawal Agreement is legally ambiguous and would leave Northern Ireland isolated from the rest of the UK, something that was 'unforeseen' when he agreed to it last year."

The Daily Telegraph splash doesn't exactly paint a portrait of a master negotiator. ImageImage
Mr Johnson could have asked the DUP about that 'unforeseen' element which they saw and were very vocally against as soon as he agreed it.
"Deal never made sense" says man who signed deal and embraced it as a triumph of #GetBrexitDone.

(01/31) The late film critic @ebertchicago was not a huge fan of @rolandemmerich’s “Independence Day”. His review of the larger-than-life, schmaltzy blockbuster noted that it was little other than “silly summer fun”, which was reluctant to “slow down for the small details”.
(02/31) ‘Not slowing down’ is very much part of the modus operandi of blogger, hat model and occasional-#PrimeMinister Dominic Cummings. Particularly when maximising the fuel efficiency of the vehicle transporting his symptomatic family to medical facilities in Northern England.
(03/31) Cummings favours haste, brevity and a broad-brush approach over ‘the small details’. This is perhaps best demonstrated by his relentless promotion of catchy-yet-meaningless slogans, such as #StayAlert, #GetBrexitDone and #ConsiderTheMatterClosed.

Taken on Golders Green high street by a friend of my uncle's: cop writes up shopkeeper for drawing *in chalk* lines to keep her customers two metres apart.
sorry, not Golders Green - Edgware.
The combination of #FBPE #GetBrexitDone #JC4PM and #ACAB people agreeing over this in my mentions is... almost beautiful...?

Dear Brexiteers,

You have got your Brexit.

Brexit is, for all practical purposes, over the line.

#GetBrexitDone

1/15
Except it was really #GetTheWithdrawalAgreementDone

But the marketing honchos at No 10 correctly realised they could never win an election with that strapline!

2/15
What you have ‘won’ at this precise moment in time, is the point of no return.

The Brexit process has only now properly started.

Dear Conservative MPs.

The UK population is it seems well and truly gaslighted over Brexit.

However you are in the HoC.

A key part of your role is to get to the facts of the matter.

/1.
And make decisions based on information and knowledge that ordinary voters do not have access to.

/2.
However, it seems that you Conservative MPs have lost focus on this key responsibility.

It may be that you even believe your own rhetoric?

That you yourselves have been gaslighted?

I ask you to prove me wrong, and spend some time over Christmas reading some of the following.

Tories today are in power and the UK's feeble democracy was the first of the high standing Western systems to die.

There is no longer an informed electorate.

The digital political advertising industry controls their behaviour.

Big money owns the best mass mood manipulators.
Here's how it works:

1. Collect big data about the people and their behaviour

2. Put your computers at work

3. Ditch your principles about decency

4. Do what your computers tell you works best.

You will be surprised how well the predictions work.
ad 1) Facebook admits 85m user profiles have been stolen, which could well be more, but there's much much more than FB and they're all collecting our data. This data will be used to make you enjoy a better service, but the fact that it's there means it attracts gold miners.

My apology to the 14m Tory voters

Sorry, that I've failed to reach you. I've twittered like hell since June '16 to warn you about the effect of subtle lies planted on you computer and smartphone screens, hoping Twitter would be a good platform for my message.

Sorry, I was wrong
Sorry, 14m Tory voters, that the songs I wrote to transfer my message lightly weren't funny enough to reach you.

Sorry that I couldn't prevent you from becoming turkeys voting for Christmas.

Sorry for declaring you 'not my friends'. It's extremely likely we could be friends.
If only I could have reached you & spent enough time with you for you to know that I'm a good guy, a realist, an experienced observer, a fact checker, a fighter against lies & cheating, an expert in IT & social media, not some crazy prophet of doom & negativity.

We 'd be friends

My message to northern voters and business leaders today is that with the right leadership we can enter a decade of renewal and unleash Britain’s potential.

In the last few days of this 3000 year campaign we're tired.

#GetBrexitdone only works on the tired.

Exhaustion - at the end your brain is kind "it'll be ok", it whispers.

It won't

So ignore your brain. It ain't over

One don't, 3 dos for this week that may help all of us
DON'T

Spend the week slagging off Boris. Delicious taste, empty calories.

No one left who thinks Boris is a friendly honest guy. He's Trump

They either love him anyway.
Or would never vote for him ever
Or are paralysed. Trapped in. No where to go.

You can help the last lot.
DO

Find one nation tories. The sort below. ⏬ traitors in their party.

They won't vote labour.
But helpfully @joswinson has finally gone 2nd ref. they'll like that, at least a bit.

If they knew
Or anyone had talked to them

They dont know and we haven't. So go hug a 1 nation.

The real point, I think, is that the position on GB to NI trade (the left hand side of the HMT table here) has been known for some time. Most NI imports from GB (and from the rest of the world) will be subject to the full panoply of EU customs rules and tariffs.
That is hard to reconcile with the Government’s claim that NI is not to be in the EU customs territory (a claim it has to make to avoid the prohibition in s55 of the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018). legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2018/22/…

EU member states don't want to be bounced into Boris Johnson's 11-month trade deal timetable.

That's why the latest version of EU leaders' summit conclusions have scaled back promises of speediness.

1.
What’s out:
“Negotiations should be organised in a way that makes the best possible use of the limited time....”
Many member states thought sent the wrong signal, that EU was signed up to Boris Johnson’s 11-month timetable.

2.
The EU is still promising to be speedy, but no one is gung-ho about trade deal in 11 mths. Far from it: many dismayed that Johnson has boxed himself in by ruling out extension of transition period. Remember original transition was deemed too short when it was 21 months.

There's some war weariness creeping into this #GE19. That's understandable after 3 years.

Let me inject you with some virtual strength #FBPE. 5 tweets and 1 long view. Anyone can share that eh?

Injection 1
#GetBrexitDone was a brilliant nefarious lie. But people have woken up.
Injection 2.
And Tory Reseach shows them this is a problem which is why they're undermining their own brilliantly devious position.

It's broken. The question is, how quickly does it unravel.

For Theresa May, it was less time than we still have.

Injection 3.
And yes, it's disappointing some leaders in #Labour and #LibDems are playing a game of Mutual Self Destruction.

But YOU don't need to play.

Look to the grass roots. Do the same in your constituency, or join an existing initiative.

THREAD: The sad decline of @georgegalloway

On last weeks #MOATS, @ggmoats angrily lambasted a caller for suggesting George had been "disloyal to JC". The caller was right. Tho he once followed me, I'm now blocked, for questioning his regular attacks on JCs #brexit strategy. 1/
GG has fuelled unfair criticism of Corbyn. He must know JC could not simply dictate his personal preference to be party policy. Labour has been democratised & that is a good thing. GG must know JC had to triangulate in order to keep his majority remainer party on board. 2/
Corbyn has done the impossible and corralled a hostile Blairite PLP well enough to reach another election with the party more unified & stronger than anyone could have predicted, given the unprecedented tsunami of sabotage Corbyn had to contend with. 3/

From the story I think Ivan Rogers is being too optimistic here. The EU will ask for more even than he says just for a tariff free deal.

Could be the first time in living memory that anyone has accused him of being an optimist. Will await the transcript...
Here's the nub of the Ivan Rogers argument - Johnson is simply repeating earlier errors and would have to accept anything the EU offered in December 2020
Rogers says the EU should pause before negotiating. I agree - it is normal for trade partners to look at the big picture before talks. But will Johnson allow? Quite possibly not.

A vote for Corbyn is a vote for a hung Parliament, which would only deliver more gridlock, more delay, and two more chaotic referendums.

👏
Level playing field provisions in the future are now radically different.

The political declaration merely says there will be provisions in the EU-UK FTA to deal with labour, environment, competition and state aids.

These disciplines are *common in all FTAs*.
This deal is now fundamentally different: an FTA is the final end state not a customs union in goods, which is where the previous deal would have taken us.

No more backstop tying the UK into a CU with the EU forever, and no more building from a single customs territory: 👍

Here's my pitch.

Vote for me and

1. I'll deliver chaos for 10 years, minimum
2. This will cost everyone ÂŁ2000 or the entire budget of the Armed Forces and Ministry of Transport.
3. Every year.
4. You'll do this for sovereignty and independence.
5. Except I and you have not
understood the realities of global trade. So the result will be less sovereignty, less independence and less money.
6. I will claim to be able to improve my trade position, by leaving on bad terms with the world's largest trade bloc
7. I'll tell you I can sign my own better deals
but neglect to mention I already have or will have deals covering 80% of global trade.
8. Which is fine because conveniently you'll never ask me which countries will give me better deals.
9. I'll use objections to immigrants and fear of Muslims to make you want border control but

Help urgently with the message we must oppose the cries of "will of the people". Their last "argument".

Let's look at the Brexit Tyrannies
Tyranny 1. The Brexits.

Whatever Brexit was in 2016, it's now unrecognisable. #FBPE

None of the 2016 promises delivered. None of the consequences has consent.

This evidence? We can compare all the 2016 promises against the deals. Detail in the thread.

A short post on what it takes to #GetBrexitDone

The trouble with the brexits is every time tories add things they end up lengthening Brexit

In 2016 when #farage defined Norway Brexit change would have taken days. Keeping the original #thatcherdeal means Brexit is done already
But the tories added on two things that weren't part of the 2016 mandate because no one thought we'd be so stupid.

1. A need for an EU FTA - all the 2016 campaigns assumed staying in the customs union.

2. A need to renegotiate all Non-EU FTAs that we get through EU.
These decisions added YEARS.

1. EU FTA, the average is 3-5 years. The idea it will be quicker is said by people who know nothing about international trade. It will be slower due to all the exceptions.

2. 10 years? It should be 35 years if we take the average. Can you imagine?
