Dominic Cummings is in conversation with longtime Brexiter and former UKIP and Tory donor Stuart Wheeler. Here is what they are both saying (I’m told from source inside the room).
Cummings asks if Cameron was right to call the referendum. Lots of nervous laughter. SW says yes.
DC asks about Tory remainer MPs. SW says they are utterly despicable. Lots of hear hears from the floor
Cummings asks whether SW is nervous about what BJ would do on Brexit. SW says - if you and he get rid of that backstop and we’ll go along with Mrs May’s deal you will be not helping.
Cummings says we’re not under pressure. The referendum was pressure - this is a walk in the park, we’re going to win, we’re enjoying it.
Cummings asks about the Supreme Court ruling. SW says it was interesting and curious. Says the chances of a unanimous verdict were v low statistically and that someone must have persuaded them with a cogent argument. He says BJ shouldn’t be ashamed of anything. Cummings nods.
Cummings says when we leave on 31 October what would you like the government do? Wheeler says, to laughter, I don’t care provided we’ve left.
