#RodneyReed's attorneys just filed a motion asking a Bastrop County judge to cancel Rodney's November 20th execution date. The motion raises two new pieces of evidence that implicate Jimmy Fennell, the victim's fiancé at the time of her death, as the real killer.

First piece of new evidence: An insurance salesperson recently signed a sworn affidavit saying that Jimmy Fennell threatened to kill Stacey Stites while they were purchasing a life insurance policy.
According to the insurance salesperson, Stacey Stites said, "I really don't know why I need life insurance since I'm so young." Jimmy Fennell replied, "If I ever catch you messing around on me, I will kill you and no one will ever know it was me that killed you."
This is consistent with the existing evidence in two important ways. (1) Jimmy Fennell also told a fellow police officer that he would strangle Stacey Stites with a belt if she cheated on him. (2) #RodneyReed was having a secret affair with Stacey at the time she was killed.
Second piece of new evidence: A former sheriff's deputy recently signed a sworn affidavit saying that he heard Jimmy Fennell make a very incriminating statement at Stacey Stites's funeral service.
According to the former sheriff's deputy, Jimmy Fennell looked at Stacey Stites's body in her casket and said something along the lines of, "You got what you deserved." The deputy was "completely shocked and floored by what Jimmy said."
The former deputy's affidavit is bolstered by the fact that his name appears in the guest register for Stacey Stites's funeral, confirming that he was there and would have been in a position to hear Jimmy Fennell's incriminating statement.
