Here's the Government's Brexit "No deal readiness report". It runs to 155 pages. It is a peculiar mix of jolly pro-Brexit cheerleading and hair-raising warnings about everything that's about to hit us with the force of a charging rhino.

From Michael Gove's introduction: "This report, therefore, outlines what businesses and individuals must do to get ready for
Brexit."

See the *must do* bit? This was released yesterday. By the time 31 October rolls around, it will have been read by about 0.01% of the population.
This is word for word one of the bullet points about what the Government has been doing to prepare: "Ensured that we have more than 15,000 of the best and brightest civil servants working on Brexit."

Now where did I put that bucket?
Huge amounts of buck passing in evidence. Remember, this is a doc published 3 weeks before Brexit that nobody will read.
"However, actions by third parties are critical in ensuring that the smoothest possible flow continues at the border."

(In other words, it's your fault.)
Every single bullet about what the Government has done to keep traffic flowing at the borders is about what the UK has done. It's like trying to tightrope across a canyon on a rope that's not tied at the other end.
"If a trader buys any items for its business from an EU country, or sells products to customers in EU countries, even if it is only once a year, it would be affected by new import and export arrangements after 31 October 2019 in the event that we leave without a deal." Red tape!
"As a result of provisions the EU has put in place, almost all current rights for UK operators to operate to and from the EU will be preserved until 31 July 2020 (for road transport) and October 2020 (for air transport)."

Next year will be off the charts bad if we no deal.
"UK airlines operating to and from the EU will need to obtain a Part-TCO safety authorisation from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and an operating permit from each relevant Member State." More yummy red tape. Whatever happened to that bonfire?
"The Government has already secured agreements with countries covering 72% of the trade (by value) for which we are seeking continuity if we leave without a deal." Lie lie lie lie lie. 72% of a tiny number. Doesn't include the EU itself, with which we do half our trade.
Looks like the Government is planning to change immigration rules instantly (even though it has put in place a transition period). Any EU citizen coming to the UK after Brexit Day to live/work will face the new regime. See p.38.
"Those planning to work or deliver services in the EU, even for short visits, may need to meet additional conditions around supporting documentation, work permits or visas" Or you could just close your business and go and live in a cabin in the woods...
