I flew back to Seattle with @TheSeanConnelly and we took an @Uber from the airport. The Uber driver drove erratically, and dangerously enough that I genuinely feared for my safety. Uber is refusing to refund my trip. 1/x
It started at Sea-Tac airport. I used the @Uber app to get a ride for @TheSeanConnelly and myself to my car, parked roughly 5 miles away. A driver accepted the ride, and the app said they were 4 minutes away. 2/x
I could tell in the @Uber app the driver missed a turn. Their car didn't follow the path the app said they would, then the time until they could get to me went up a few minutes. They eventually made it, and parked, and send the message, "I have arrived" 3/x
Sea-Tac has 50+ ride sharing stalls for @Uber and @lyft. When a driver arrives, they park, and send a message to the passenger with the number of the stall they are in. This driver did not, and I had to ask which stall they were in. For this I was charged a "waiting" fee. 4/x
@TheSeanConnelly and I put our bags in the bag, and then we use the back seats of this car. The car is clean, and our driver is nice, and we are on our way - wait - driver nearly missed a turn, swerving HARD.

Okay, NOW on our way. 5/x
Our driver got onto the freeway, and sped up rather quickly. Our exit was just a few miles away from the airport. OOPS, our driver nearly missed that exit too, swerving HARD through the gore point. Our driver at that point said, "This app is confusing, don't you think so?" 6/x
Off the freeway, and a left turn at the end of the exit. Our driver speeds up to 50+ mph. The road is rated 25mph, and as a flashing stop sign approaches, I start to think our driver won't be stopping. They slow to a roll, then keep driving. 7/x
The speed limits aren't adhered to, and we are almost to our destination. I say, "It's up here on the left" when we are 100 feet from our drop. Our driver drives PAST our drop point, braking hard a few houses down. 8/x
@TheSeanConnelly, visibly shaken, says, "Oh, don't worry, we can walk from here." Our driver says, "No, I can put it in reverse." and proceeds to do so. As I turn around, I can see a parked car getting closer and closer. Uh... 9/x
We missed the parked car, coming inches away from side swiping it. Our travel is backwards, but we very much aren't traveling in a straight line. The car makes it to the drop point, and the driver puts it in park, crooked, and slightly in the road. 10/x
@TheSeanConnelly and I unload our bags and say good bye, making our way to my car. Once in the car, we both breathe a sigh of relief. Sean says, "Holy sh*t that was scary." I agreed and said, "I'm going to file a complaint." 11/x
The complaint was filed, and everything above was mentioned. @Uber responded, "Thank you for your reported, we are sorry, here is $5 in Uber credit."

... WHAT? 12/x
I wrote back explaining how I didn't think this was right. I feared for my safety, and I wanted to be refunded for my ride. I thought that would be fair. The ride total was $18.07 13/x
@Uber responded, saying, "However, as much as we want to provide a refund for the inconvenience that you've experienced, we're afraid that we are unable to do so as we have a certain set of guidelines and policies that we need to adhere to and follow." 14/x
Guidelines?!?

@Uber drivers are allowed to drive recklessly, making passengers fear for their safety, and Uber has policies in place saying for that, you get $5 in Uber credit. 15/x
I am home, I am safe, but this isn't right.

I hate complaining, but this is just terrible. I *HIGHLY* suggest you don't use @Uber because I don't think this is a good policy. I've had good luck with @lyft and they are going to be getting my business going forward. 16/x
@Uber @lyft @Uber support asked me to DM them, I did.

This is comical.
