Places that I love are in flames today, with massive evacuation orders for the surroundings.

Be careful, California kin. Bail early if you can & you’re under warning; this is a hard area to evacuate quickly. Check on your neighbours. Remember your pets.

You know how notoriously prepared parents of infants are with diaper bags? You want that for you.
Evacuating all the way to the coast is very dark but sound logic.

if the Kincade fire jumps the Russian River, it‘s into an area with a lot of dense trees that hasn’t burned in a long time. It’s scant transport routes that channel in to exposed valleys.

Pro: Decent list of emergency power outage supplies & tips

Con: Major power utilities in California are deliberately shutting down often enough blackout kits are in regular rotation.
This is such an insidious slip in to New Normal.

Sure, privatized utilitues could spend money on infrastructure upgrades and hazard reduction. Or they could declare it’s cheaper to reduce functionality & service and brand it as a safety measure.

Behold the joy of capitalism.
Even the phrase “de-energization” as a risk management strategy is so 1984 newspeak that I cannot even.

If you want a lesson in how to destroy your state’s creative industries, the combination of catastrophically expensive + unreliable power + penalizing anchor clients is it.

Uber & Lyft are exploitive & those loopholes should absolutely be closed, but rounding up creatives into this mess is short-sighted when California’s pixie dust depends on exporting dreams.

Be a corporation, not a person.

Someone will figure out how to boilerplate incorporating docs (either in state or out) as companies can still be hired for infinite gigs. Because of course they can.

Hi everyone I have some thoughts on this. #surprise
First and let's just get this out of the way, I'm against the City expanding North of 8 Mile Road and I will admit a large part of that is agricultural sentimentality. But there are other reasons I think reserving this land for a "transformative project" is dangerous.
Second. The area really isn't suited for the type of industrial development ala Tesla that would meet the major jobs generator criteria. The infrastructure for goods movement is much stronger in other parts of the City/County where freeway, freight, port, air access are better.
