I just realized today that Facebook has to do product reviews with the government now. That is truly the end of the company's ability to "move fast and <insert anything>"
Maybe now is a great time to start the next Snapchat - the biggest incumbent is becoming systematically & severely crippled.
What companies went on to be great to build in the Microsoft era where this happened but previously would've been a death sentence?

Making a social network probably isn't precisely the right thing to do in the same way making a desktop OS wouldn't have been great.

Why do insurance companies make you file claims with snail mail? Who solves this?

Legitimately asking for myself: I don't want to fill out a form, find an envelope/stamp, mail it, and then have to remember to check up on it to ensure I saved money.
Is it just Cigna being archaic and all the other insurance co let you file claims electronically?

I tried to buy an ENS domain. The state of things made me sad:

1. Metamask & Coinbase don't interoperate. I couldn't find a web3 coinbase browser.

2. When I tried to send crypto to Metamask, this happened: "You are currently unable to buy and sell digital currency on Coinbase."
Are things better than they seem or is it really this challenging right now?
Here I thought I was in control of my money :(

Yesterday at #LISA19 I gave a talk about building our own Kubernetes cluster (starting with 1 node). Now @lbernail is about to deliver his talk about "Kubernetes the Very Hard Way", i.e. the other end of the spectrum, when you scale to 1000s of nodes, with strong security etc!
And I might be going to livetweet it a little bit. For funsies!
Laurent works for @datadoghq, who has 10000s of hosts, 10s of clusters, up to 2500 nodes per cluster. (Not all clusters that big of course.) They're multi-cloud and ingest trillions of data points per day.

1/ About the digital right-wing troll attack on liberal accounts today/tonight through the "Lib Slayer Operation" (I am purposefully avoiding their hashtag):

=> I have done the basic homework, blocked the list passed on to me but I investigated further
2/ All accounts are fairly small and troll-type. The content is shallow, ignorant, typical uneducated white nationalist anger. What does that mean?
=> horizontal, anarchic action
=> organizational fringe (folks that satelize extremist organizations but ...
3/ ... don't actually have hard ties to them. It's the American white nationalist MO: it's inefficient, but works by critical mass volume)
