Closeted, high-school student Chris Geidner going to see the movie alone (I imagine over Christmas break) while the rest of the family saw something else is probably a defining moment in my pre-“telling *anyone* I was gay” life.
I became obsessed with the soundtrack to the movie. Yes, there was one, and, yes, it still immediately throws me back 25 years thinking about the Bruce Springsteen song, but also the opera song (I had to look it up, but, Maria Callas) and, who knew, the Spin Doctors song.
(I mean, that was the only thing you could really do after seeing a movie back then to take you right back into it.)
So much of the soundtrack was excellent, it’s true! I mentioned those three just because sitting here randomly tonight and seeing Richard’s tweet, I immediately pulled those three songs right to the fore of my mind. ... Anyway, thanks for reminding me, @rilaws.
