Anyone who preaches at me about risking a second Trump term or who tells me to suck it up can get the fuck out.
Anyone with two functioning neurons who follows me knows damn well I am serious about preferring a moray eel to Donald Trump. I can still express dissatisfaction with the top four and hope for better and recall we had better in 2016. I don't need your prattling suck it up shit

When Prop 8 passed, the immediate analysis was that Prop 8 passed because Obama was on the ballot and there were all these new Black voters and they voted for it. This is untrue. In fact, the new voters voted 62% against Prop 8, but the smear of Black voters lived on.
The real difference was generational. Older voters voted for Prop 8 and older voters vote more reliably. In addition, Oregon gay rights activists who were experienced in fighting anti-gay ballot measures reported the No on 8 campaign relied far too heavily on TV over field
Most damningly, they did not focus on outreach to people of color organizations, churches, and newspapers until the last weeks of the campaign. This is a failure of outreach, another result of not valuing field enough. But it's easier to say Black people are homophobic

We are taking so many bad lessons from 2016, I sometimes despair we will ever get our shit together.

1) Hillary was not a uniquely bad candidate. She beat Bernie by 4 million votes and beat Trump by 3 million votes despite several interventions
2) America is not too sexist to vote for a woman. America chose Clinton, the Electoral College chose Trump

3) America is not too racist for a person of color. Remember Obama?
4) The working class did not prefer Trump. The working class voted for Clinton. Trump won the wealthier voters and the less educated voters. Trump won white men and a plurality of white women, though 47% not 53%

I am so sick and tired of the "Vote Blue No Matter Who" demand even though I will vote for the eventual nominee.

Why?

Because **WHO** matters and VBNMW asserts falsely that it does not.
The Democratic Party is a broad coalition of people with diverse backgrounds, beliefs, & priorities. Even when we agree on the goal, we disagree on the means. Still, we all believe in community-that we are responsible for each other as well as ourselves.
But the idea that we cannot argue from now until April about who we choose because any criticism we use today will be used by Republicans tomorrow is about the dumbest shitpile of idiocy you can find outside a Trump tweet.
