Government will rest this morning in Roger Stone trial, they say. They would like to recall former FBI agent Michelle Taylor to read transcript of Godfather II scene
Judge asks how they will authenticate the transcript. "Well, she's seen the movie several times," AUSA says, "including very recently."
Judge Jackson is going to review the transcript for what defense sees as bias in scene-setting (ie, "smoke filled room"). Richard Gates is up now to testify

Hearing today in case of Mike Flynn's business partner Bijan Kian -- defense says government hasn't produced all the evidence that makes Flynn an unreliable witness, given what's publicly known
"That's the heart of our defense," Kian's attorney said -- Mike Flynn's unreliability. Govt. says they are sharing everything they have that could impeach Flynn.
But government says they don't want to hand over copies of all 15 special counsel reports on meetings with Flynn because "there are other investigations that would or could be hampered by disclosure of unfettered information"

SCO has filed motion opposing effort to get Manafort's trial delayed. Says Manafort has a personal laptop and phone in jail, doesn't have to wear uniform, has his own bathroom, shower and workroom access and has told people he *is* treated like a "VIP."
Per special counsel, just days before asking for a continuance Manafort told someone, “I’ve gone through
all the discovery now.” Also said he is able to visit with his lawyers every day,
and that he has “all my files like I would at home.”
There's a lot in this filing. Manafort is sending emails. He told someone on the phone why he wanted the D.C. trial first: “think about how it’ll play elsewhere….There is a strategy to it,
even in failure, but there’s a hope in it."

New thread for Stone's lawyer's closing statement: Rogow says the prosecution's argument that Stone lied to HPSCI to protect Trump "Is absolutely false and it makes no sense." Rogow says that's because Trump was already elected in 2017 when Stone testified.
Obviously, the Trump-Russia investigation had major political impacts after Trump's election. Rogow's argument here is wanting. It purposely ignores political context.
Rogow shows a June 17, 2016 Credico tweet linking a WikiLeaks tweet, in which Credico wrote: "Assange to drop coup de gras” versus Clinton. The implication being that this public tweet makes Credico as possible backchannel to Stone earlier than the government says.

Good morning from the federal courthouse in DC where the Roger Stone trial resumes this morning. Long line to get in today - I initially was among the Stone defense team and then Stone himself - but they’ve since jumped on ahead.
Deep thought of the day - if all the reporters covering the Roger Stone trial are still stuck in a security line when the trial starts, is it really happening?
BREAKING - DOJ says it expects it will rest its case today against Stone.

Rainy day in DC and there’s a long line outside the federal courthouse where Roger Stone’s trial will pick up in under an hour.

Stone’s legal team just hopped in the back of the line, looking displeased. Alt right activist Milo Yiannopoulos just got in. @CourthouseNews
Stone has arrived. Just cut the line to join his lawyers near the front.
Court security bringing Stone, his wife and legal team in the side door now.

Today’s installment of the Roger Stone trial kicked off with a dry walkthrough of House and committee rules.

Then, ex-FBI agent Taylor asked about this email from Credico to Stone — telling Stone, as the congressional investigations gear up, that his story is false.
We're hearing audio of Stone's House Intel testimony.

Stone says: “These hearings are largely based on yet unproven allegation that the Russian state was responsible for the hacking of the DNC and John Podesta and the transfer of" info to WikiLeaks.
That's important because Rogow argued yesterday that Stone understood the investigation to be just about Russia, which is why he didn't produce WikiLeaks docs.

Above is a quote during his testimony saying he knows it's about hacking of DNC/Podesta and WikiLeaks.

Good morning from federal court in DC for Roger Stone trial Day 2/3 (depending on if you county jury selection as a trial day). Here’s a selfie w/ my colleague @joshgerstein as we venture into the building for another busy day.
Things will get moving at 9:30 am with Michelle Taylor, the former FBI agent who was the Stone case agent before leaving the bureau, on the witness stand to continue her testimony. She should be up there for another 2 or so hours.
I’m told Randy Credico is a possible witness for the government later this PM.
