Who is Roger Stone? And why should Britain care? Here’s another question that’s always bothered me: why did Nigel Farage give a misleading account of how he met Roger Stone in July 2016?

I wrote this in April 2017. At the time, Farage’s visit to Assange was in category of strange-but-UKIP. But I got key tip: look at the timing I was told. So I did. And saw that within minutes of Farage leaving the embassy, Wikileaks announced a new leak

That summer, I had a long conversation with one of the filmmakers behind the fantastic Netflix doco Get Me Roger Stone (trust me, watch it). He told me that they had filmed Stone having dinner with Farage & Alex Jones at the RNC convention in July 2016

It was interesting because Roger Stone had talked about a ‘friend’ who travelled back & forth to London who had been his intermediary to Wikileaks...& of course we wanted to know who? Could it really be...Farage?? @DavidCornDC teased out some of these links here for @MotherJones

But what I didn’t notice until late last year was this update to the article. Farage claimed he’d met Stone ‘purely by chance’. It wasn’t a ‘meeting’, it was an accident. Which was strange...

...because this was not what the filmmakers told me. So I rang them back. Rubbish, they said. It was a pre-arranged meet & it was a big enough deal for Stone to ditch the camera crew

The filmmakers drove with Stone to meet Farage & Jones, when they got there, Stone insisted no cameras, no wires. But it was what happened afterwards that caught the filmmaker’s attention: the DNC leaks. Which Alex Jones seemed to know about ahead of time

Which brings me back to the first question: why did Farage claim there was no ‘meeting’? When filmmakers say definitely was? It puts Farage in the time frame & orbit of 2 Wikileaks’ leaks..with man who’s just been convicted. I write about all this here

But I can’t get access to any of the people I ask questions about. Farage, Johnson, Zuckerberg, to name just a few. And the journalists who have access don’t ask these questions. The End
