The Poky Little Puppy is way darker than I remember it being.
Like, (spoiler alert?) the plot is basically a bunch of dogs go play, and four get caught sneaking in and get sent to bed without dessert but the slow one comes in after everyone has gone to sleep and eats it all. I have questions. 2/
No one noticed he was missing? The mother didn’t wait up? They just left the food out?Anyways, in the third and final act, the five dogs go out again and then get caught filling in the hole behind them. 3/
So the mother dog rewards them, despite having made multiple big signs telling the dogs not to go out in the first place (she apparently has paint, brushes, and opposable thumbs). 4/
But the poky little puppy comes home late. Again, no one seems to have missed him. I assume he would get punished for this, but the mother dog and four other dogs instead mock him for being too slow and brag about having eaten all the dessert. 5/
And that’s how it ends. I don’t know if this was originally written for the “Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche Collection of Children’s Tales” but that’s some messed up stuff.
