Idk if I said anything about horror in VR before, so here goes:
- Are there any horror VR games out there that are legitimately good?
- HORROR IN VR IS TOO FUCKING HORRIFYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mean I love horror, I love being creeped out, and I have pretty high tolerance for all that stuff, but holy shit when you're in VR and something makes a scary noise right next to your ear it's just like SHIIIIIIIIIIIT. Instant 100% immersion.
Gone is the greatest element of horror - the fact that you're experiencing it from your own comfort zone. When you watch a movie, read a book, whatever, the worst that can happen is you won't go into a dark kitchen. If you're like 10 or whatever.
In VR your self preservation kicks in fucking quick, and your body is ready to shit bricks.

This is a lot funnier in context, and I urge all of you to watch the film, which itself is a collection of 3 shorts.
College student protagonist named Shurik finds a girl named Lida who had notes for an upcoming exam. Being so engaged by studying Lida doesn't realize that Shurik is not her girl friend who was left behind sleeping on a bus. The gag is that there's no sexual tension between them.
Which changes the next day as Shurik and Lida actually encounter each other after the exam and unknowingly retrace their steps frog the day before. It's delightful, and very 1960 USSR.

Regarding "Imagine if Duke 3D got censored in 1996..."' and all that jazz. It did. There was a special version made to be sold in Wal-Mart (biggest retail @ the 🕙) with permanently enabled parental lock (remeber that? Duke 3D actually had a parental lock feature to begin with!).
Shadow Warrior got censored in the UK, they also changed shurikens into freaking *darts*. NAM had to have it's entire title changed to Napalm to be sold in Wal-Mart (???). The 90s weren't some kind of a gaming utopia.

While my Apple Watch post is done, I also wanted to relay some thoughts about using the iPhone full time again, just not in a post (because honestly it would be super redundant and I don't want to write 3000 words I've already written before). So, here goes:
The good:
-battery life on the 11 Pro Max is legit amazing (2 days is doable)
-Haptics, speakers, performance are all the best of any phone I've ever used
-Every damn app that needs secure auth works with face ID
-Face ID > Pixel 4 face unlock (faster, more reliable)
The good-but-not-amazing:
-you have literally endless (good) case options
-fast charging on ifone finally yay
-best gesture nav in the biz
-3 very good cameras
-flat screens 4 life
-that mute switch
-bluetooth that mostly works right

This will not be Haskell-focused. Haskell was my first introduction to monads back in 1999, and it just confused the heck out of me. Instead I’ll use examples from #csharp and #fsharp, since they’re what I know best. 2/
First, ignore category theory jargon. Unless you’re doing actual math (or Haskell), “Monad” as a concept is far less important than its practical applications. So let’s start with what monads are good for, before getting into what they are. 3/

1/ Amid Twitter maybe getting rid of the "like" to promote "better dialog" and certainly giving safe haven to nazis and other extremists, a rant:
2/ You probably noticed how, people came forward to say that they'd reported the bomber for violent threats, and Twitter (as always) did nothing and (as always) now apologizes but (as always) won't say how they'll better handle. They won't, and I'll tell you one big reason why.
3/ to address complaints about threats and "improve the dialog" Twitter introduced the "quality filter." You see fewer threats and hate speech. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THERE'S LESS OF IT.
