Should Mexico grant political asylum to Evo Morales?

The answer is quite simply NO, and there are many reasons for this.
For starters, he is the legal leader of all coca growers in Bolivia and to be more precise, the Union Leader.
In Bolivia there is a tradition of
chewing coca leaves to help people with altitude sickness and to fool hunger and thirst. However, not all people in Bolivia consume coca
leaves, so there is a surplus. You may wonder what do they do with the extra inventory?
As far as I know, besides their
use for tea, candies and to be chewed, there is only one other use, to make Cocaine.
That is the reason why Juan Evo Morales Ayma doubled the number of hectares permitted to grow the coca plant in the country from 12,000 to
22,000.
Of course the @DEAHQ is aware of all of this but could not do much when he was president of Bolivia for one simple reason, he expelled
them in 2008 giving the three months to leave Bolivia. Suspicious, isn’t it?
After removing himself as president of Bolivia, Evo Morales found
temporary shelter in Chapare, a coca zone, where he actually started back-
in-the-day his career as a politician and a area where he is respected as the leader of coca farmers that he still is. El Chapare is basically a
coca grower paradise. No one is going to tell them that
it is illegal to grow, because it is not, not in Bolivia. Morales made sure of that. He
actually gave a speech at the UN, defending the use of coca as a cultural heritage. People seemed to buy the story. El Chapare also has an
airport where light aircraft pick up cocaine to
be distributed all around the world, but one of the main destinations is México due to the link with
the Sinaloa Cartel.
The price for a kilo of cocaine in Bolivia is just $ 2,500 USD- very cheap according to David Beriain @DavidBeriain as mentioned in his
documentary series
“Clandestino”. That is half the market price compared to Colombia and Peru but the price he would pay in those countries
is higher as there is also a possibility to be caught and incarcerated. Now guess who is one of the main buyers of Bolivian cocaine? The Sinaloa Cartel.
Unsurprisingly, Morales got political asylum in Mexico, where recently the Mexican government failed to retain Ovidio Guzman. It failed
because, although he had been captured, he was released to go back home with the Sinaloa Cartel in the recent “ Culiacan Gate #Culiacanazo”,
as it
has been called in Mexico.
In basic terms, the Mexican government is protecting a former drug-lord President from extradition not only to Bolivia, where he would face a
process for electoral fraud, but also maybe from the U.S.A. as he was responsible for many tons of a
drug that kills thousands of people every
year in the world. Maybe he is telling the truth when he says that he did not steal a single cent. He had no need to do that, as he was already a rich man in
the cocaine business.
Morales even built an airport in Cochabamba,
Chimore International Airport, and it was not because he wanted to import tropical fruits, you can
be sure of that.
Why do you an international airport in a city with less than 30,000 inhabitants? The idea of having a new airport for “public” use was actually copied by
President Lopez Obrador (current Mexican president),
which is the basis whole idea of his new airport. Lopez ordered the cancellation of a world class airport NAIM and instead opted to built another in Santa Lucia, where we would also have the protection of the army in case of
any "particular need".

I remember that not so long ago and for very similar reasons, Panama was invaded as Antonio Noriega was deeply involved in drug trafficking.

The result was that his regime ended and he finished his years in prison, doing his time behind bars in
the U.S.A., France and finally Panama.
So basically, a military intervention by the USA in Mexico is an open possibility, but my best guess is that it is not going to happen during the
Trump administration as he is already busy with his possible impeachment.

However if the
drug cartels are declared a “terrorist organization” in the USA, they may have special visitors in their own territory, the orders for terrorist organizations are usually the same “suppress the threat”.

That is going to happen if and only if enough States Senators put
pressure on their federal administration.

So now that Juan Evo Morales Ayma is in Mexico playing a victim role to gain sympathy from the Mexican people, even though he is despised
by the general population, the Mexican government has given him a security team meant only for
presidential use including an SUV
with an Army M134 7.62×51mm minigun.
If he is so loved back in his country why does he need to be protected as if he were a very important person for the Mexican Government?
That gives us an idea that he is under constant threat and that Mexico, under President Lopez, is becoming a narco- State government.
