We'll also be teaching entrepreneurs #LinkedIn optimisation+social selling+business communication+business strategy on Dec 7. You can register here: eepurl.com/gd9NlP
First the sections: Intro, About, Experience, Education, Volunteer Experience, Skills & Endorsements, Recommendations, Accomplishments, Interests.
We will take each section one after the other before we go to the soft skills.
This is where you have the header picture, profile picture, name, headline, and other info brought up from other sections.
Don't leave your header picture space blank. Use Canva.com to create an appealing background image or use a picture.
Profile picture: Use a professional head shot picture. If you can do a photo shoot.
Make sure your facial features are visible.
DON'T use a group family picture, you at a beach/drinking or unnecessarily exposing body parts.
Fill it. Don't be a moving digital advert for your organisation. You're more than your current designation.
What 3-5 things do you want people to know you for, professionally?
Optimise for that search. Use the relevant keywords.
'Recent gradate', 'looking for new opportunities'...
NO!
Please keep this in mind.
Also, we know many of us are well read. If you have many professional qualifications - use a maximum of 2 if you have to at all.
ACA, FCA, EFCC, ICPC, WHO 🙄
Quick insert: when you comment of people's posts on LinkedIn, your profile picture, name and headline is what shows up. Make sure these three things tell people at a glance what you are about.
Not sure how to proceed? Look through the profiles of people in your profession who've done theirs well.
You may also use mine as a guide: linkedin.com/in/tolucomms/
If you are job hunting, your email address, phone number should definitely be visible to your first level connections.
Don't make it difficult for people to contact you.
This is where you tell us who you are and what you are good at doing.
Tell a beautifully woven story about your career objectives, skills, aspirations and growth trajectory.
Don't write one line and walk away. That's lazy.
Remember to use those keywords too.
