@JakeAuch @DavidFCavell @BeckyWGrossman @AlanKhazei @ihssaneleckey @jessemermell For 10+ years, MassDOT proposes to reduce the Mass Pike from 8 lanes to 6 lanes. So we need more express bus service, dedicated bus lanes on the Pike, and more frequent, more reliable commuter rail (rebuilding the #NewtonMA train stations with two-track platforms would help)
We also need to keep trains running on both commuter rail tracks in Allston. MassDOT proposes to close one of the tracks, which makes the commuter rail less reliable and less able to run more frequently

@USDOTFHWA and everyone who rides the Worcester Line should oppose MassDOT's cumbersome plan for two tracks that bypass West Station. These tracks would force *inbound* trains onto the *outbound* tracks, creating single-track bottlenecks on both sides of West Station
@USDOTFHWA #BrooklineMA could be connected to the Charles River paths with a new footbridge that could be built over the Pike and Soldiers Field Rd
@USDOTFHWA and the Amory St neighborhood could be connected to the Charles River paths if the Grand Junction Rail Bridge over Soldiers Field Rd is rebuilt with space for walking, biking & trains, with access over the new at-grade Pike or from the BU Bridge
Many of these #BrooklineMA issues were raised in great letters from @TommyVitolo & Brookline Transportation Board

@TommyVitolo if you bike from Brookline through Allston to Cambridge, you DEFINITELY want the Franklin St footbridge rebuilt, but you DO NOT want MassDOT's unsafe switchback hairpin turn design to be built!
@TommyVitolo and if you are concerned about MassDOT's proposal to put Soldiers Field Rd on a bridge *in* the Charles River for 10 years and replace 1/2 mile of natural shoreline with a metal wall, please mention that too

Yesterday MassDOT explained how it plans to move the Mass Pike and Soldiers Field Rd into the water and parks of the Charles River for ~10 years while rebuilding the highway
In the water MassDOT proposes to build a 1/4 mile long, 81' wide "panelized structure” (aka “bailey bridge”). This would hold 4 lanes of Soldiers Field Rd and the Dr Paul Dudley White path
At either end of this bridge, they would extend the shoreline by filling in what is currently water. This would create space for SFR to transition from its current alignment onto the new bridge

The design for the #Allston Throat selected by @MassDOT needs to be improved to minimize the impact of having 12 highway lanes immediately adjacent to the Charles River parkland. This can be done in a way that is both effective and visually attractive
Here is an example from the EastLink Trail in Melbourne. AUS

In North Carolina, this wall was built as part of the Charlotte Area Transit System LYNX Blue Line Extension project, another example of how a transportation project can build a nice looking wall.

As the work on building Amravati, the new capital city AP, comes to a grinding halt, concerns emerge about Amravati (APCRDA) bonds held by Franklin MF (~Rs. 1000 Cr) and Birla MF (Rs. ~300 Cr). Thread 1/11
During the Chandrababu Govt, Amravati received political as well as financial patronage. Now, with Jagan Reddy being incharge of the state, the project is in shambles. World Bank & ADB pulled out of the project and the Government is looking for reasons to scrap it. 2/n
The bonds issued to support the financing needs of the project were subscribed by Franklin MF and Birla MF. The bonds are guaranteed by the AP Govt but it's not sure if the Govt would keep servicing the bonds. The risk of lending to a state govt has again come to the fore. 3/11

For an ideology which claims to be based on rationalism and atheism, deificiation and hero worship have long been central to the dravidian ideology. Guess every ideology which draws inspiration from communism has the attributes of a cult.
2. The so-called believers in iconoclasm are the ones who inevitably crave for iconization for eternity. And these people ridicule Idol worship. The irony! Wither rationalism/pagutharivu?
3. At least stay true to your allegedly rational ideals and don't ask for a monument in your memory when you claim to have stood for iconoclasm all your life and fought against theism.

Excellence is dependent on other people, like judges, examiners, teachers, assessors, inspectors, auditors. But we can't control these people and whether they think we're excellent or not.
