Today was a bad day for commuters across the Commonwealth. My train out of #SalemMA was late as usual & at N StationI couldn’t pack myself into this can of sardines even after waiting for 2 trains. I ended up walking to work. 
When I got to my 8:30 mtg 1 hr late, half the room was empty or on a conference line because nobody could make it to work on time. A colleague ended up jumping into his car because train from w mass never arrived, still ended up pulling over the side of highway to dial in.
My workday is shortened as a result because I must leave on time to head home and get kids from daycare. I encountered same sardine can situation, turned around & started walking to n station making my train with 1 min to spare.
So when I hear @MassGovernor say he “doesn’t need to ride the T to understand its issues” he undermines the nuances of commuters’ lived experiences: how we must rearrange every aspect our lives around an extremely unreliable but essential lifeline to economic stability.
Imagine if @MassGovernor’s only commute option for 1 day was by #MBTA and he was hours late for his first appt of the day? Think of the ripple effect 4 ppl who probably waited months to get on his calendar. It’s reality for Boston area workforce daily, in a diff version
And the ripple effect goes beyond our transit network. On rare days my husband decides to leave the car at home I gets texts from him like this:
I can’t picture an elected official sitting in hours of traffic thinking the status quo is ok. Voters: please elect leaders who have the courage to get behind straight forward solutions that have been studied and proven effective in other cities/countries. wgbh.org/news/local-new…
