1/Today's @bopinion post is about how economics changed in the 2010s. It's not a complete list, of course - just some highlights.

2/In the 2010s, empirical economics really came into its own with the "Credibility Revolution".
3/And in the 2010s, economics started to lean leftward.
4/The fight against sexism took center stage.
5/And economists started to warm to the minimum wage.
6/Concern about industrial concentration rose.
7/And the free trade consensus broke down.
8/And finally, the prestige of the field decreased substantially.

It remains to be seen whether the other big shifts can bring that prestige back.
9/Economics isn't what it was in the 70s and 80s. If you still hold that outdated, antique picture of econ in your mind, it's time to change with the times.
