Here is that thread that I promised you on why it is important to heal past trauma

So first we have to define trauma and it is defined as a "deeply distressing and disturbing experience"

There are different variations of it so I will only speak for the kind that I have helped clients with as an Neurolinguistics Practitioner
Things that can cause trauma are childhood rejection, neglect, abuse(both physical and emotional), sexual assault, bullying and causing your emotional and physical reflexes to be in fight or flight mode.
The more uncommon causes or not as well recognised causes of trauma are things like your parents comparing you, parents being hard on you, religious & social exclusion through unconsciously being told that you are not enough by those settings.
It is important to heal your traumas because when you do not work on your healing the trauma patterns starts showing up in your relationship with others & self , your career, your business. All of it.
When trauma is not healed than although you are an adult you may find yourself still stuck in the emotional state in which the trauma was created. So if for example you were abused physically for speaking up as a child, when you have to speak up at work you experience anxiety.
Cont- You may feel the fear, not feeling safe, rejection all over again. So you keep relieving it when your boss says you have a presentation and when you have to communicate in relationships.
Sometimes the trauma also gets stored in your body so at certain time of the year or when you have certain similar exoeriences you will have migraines, anxiety, aches on certain parts of your body with no real explanation. This happens until the trauma is released.
You may even develop personality traits because of the trauma "I am just shy" "I don't like to speak up" sometimes you know it is trauma based if you desire to be something else but just feel you can't. When you heal the trauma your true wholesome self emerges.
Often times a trauma has a root cause and a part of the work that I do is finding the original event that caused the trauma not the symptoms which often show themselves in certain negative patterns that do not serve the client. A negative pattern also has a root negative belief.
A negative belief can be something that sounds like "I'm not enough" " happiness is not for me" "I fail at everything"

Most people try and treat the pattern which is possible & takes longer in my opinion but true healing comes from finding the root of your trauma & healing that.
One last thing is that your mind represses certain memories from a traumatic experience to help protect you as you may have not been able to handle the emotions that came with it. The emotions however still sit in your body until that trauma is healed. Cont-
