One interesting thing about the Nigeria LNG project is that, on October 4, 1976: A certain Colonel Muhammadu Buhari—at the time Nigeria’s Federal Commissioner for Petroleum Resources—signed, on behalf of @NigeriaGov, an Agreement with Shell & BP for an LNG Plant in Bonny.
That was the birth of the dream.

13 years later, on May 17, 1989, @NigeriaLNG Limited was incorporated, as a limited liability company to export LNG from Nigeria. Owned by 4 Shareholders: @NigeriaGov represented by @NNPCgroup (49%); Shell (25.6%); Total (15%) and Eni (10.4%).
It would take another six years for the Final Investment Decision (FID). November 1995, FID to build an LNG plant on Bonny Island in Rivers State. EPC contract awarded in December 1995, for Trains 1 and 2.
Construction started 1996.

1999: Train 2 completed and began operations.

Train 1 followed in 2000.

Train 3: 2002 (operational)

Train 4: 2005

Train 5: 2006

Train 6: Construction started 2004; operational December 2007

Train 7: FID, December 2019, TWELVE YEARS after Train 6
