Here are 10 reasons why @BritishQuakers the #HouseOfLords needs to vote down part 3 of the #PoliceBill on Monday:

'Noisy' or 'disruptive' protests will be criminalised. Most protests annoy someone! And most protests are pretty noisy.
1/10
@BritishQuakers What constitutes 'noisy' hasn't been defined. Which means the police can define it according to their whim. If they think a protest is 'noisy' then it's noisy and will be illegal.
2/10
@BritishQuakers What constitutes 'disruptive' hasn't been defined either. So the Home Secretary gets to decide. So a government that thinks a protest is 'disruptive' can make it illegal, even (especially!) when the protest is directed at the government.

JUST PUBLISHED: The 'Covid pass' Regulations expected to be debated by #HouseofCommons tomorrow (Tues 14/12) #Covid #Omicron #StatutoryInstruments #delegatedlegislation #Regulations #Parliament #scrutiny 1/ legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2021/1416…
& here are the new 'self-isolation' Regulations exempting close contacts of Omicron cases from the requirement to self-isolate, providing they are fully vaccinated, under 18, in a clinical trial or medically exempt 2/ legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2021/1415…
So, the 3 sets of Regs we expected, to implement 'Plan B', are now published - 1 day before #HouseofCommons is expected to debate them all. This leaves little time for proper scrutiny. Read our briefing about the Regs & how the debate might be organised. hansardsociety.org.uk/publications/b…

re: #care cap in #HealthAndCareBill, procedural point is that gov is trying to make significant unforced policy change by introducing an am. to its own Bill *at report stage* i.e. *after* committee stage, when detailed #scrutiny is - in #HouseofCommons - supposed to happen. 1/6
#HealthAndCareBill committee stage finished 2/11, but gov only introduced its amendment 18/11. Gov may point, rightly, to fact that report stage is now 2 days (original plan was only 1). But this is no substitute for committee stage, when a committee can take expert evidence. 2/6
In these circs, when new policy is added at this stage, MPs ought to have the option of getting a Bill re-committed to the Public Bill Committee so the new content can be scrutinised in detail - Andrew Dilnot can give his evidence to MPs instead of/as well as @BBCr4today. 3/6

The #UKGovernment Torture Report

This is a very short overview of what the #UKAuthorities have done in the case.

In 2005, I set up a business selling CDs, namely mixtape CDs after graduating from Uni.

In 2006, my home was raided & my business was stopped. They said the CDs I was selling were in breach of copyright.
It was a complete shock as the exact same CDs I was selling were prevalent on most high streets and supermarkets. They were selling in their thousands in places such as #Tesco & #HMV. And #Woolworths were the actual UK Distributor of these CDs.

[Thread] Evening to those following #BrexitShambles. In part 2 of my @BorisJohnson Tweet Analysis (I absolutely refuse to use the term 'deep dive'), I have analysed approximately 900,000 of Bojo's Twitter followers. Why you ask? Well who knows what you may find... #HouseOfCommons
@BorisJohnson Of the 900,000 followers analysed (he has around a million), around 53,000 joined Twitter in July and August 2019. That's around 6%. You can see a clear spike at that time on the graph, well above the average no. created per month, and one standard deviation. What does this mean?
@BorisJohnson Remember, the graph shows when people JOINED Twitter, not FOLLOWED Boris Johnson. If this was a sample of Tweets in a hashtag, it would be highly likely that most of these accounts are fake followers or bot accounts, designed in this case to boost Bojo's follower base, and ego
