I almost always start positions small and slowly build them out as my conviction and confidence grow. When I find great companies, I will add to them slowly over years, especially during dips and pullbacks. These positions are rarely sold.
I do have a number of smaller, speculative positions that I try on for size and either 1) Discard if I don't like after a quarter or two, or 2) Add to them until they grow into core positions.

Made no moves in December. January is usually a busy month as I make my contributions to my wife's and mine IRAs and kids' Coverdells.

YTD my portfolio is up a tad over 40% to the S&P 500's approximate 29% gain.
3-yr gains are 104.2% to S&P's 44.3%.

Owe a large part to year's out-performance to $SWKS performance. It's my largest position and up 80% YTD.
