A GOP asked me why it's ok for DEMs to push social agenda (gay marriage/abortion were issues angering her) on them, but not ok for them to push agenda on us.

Here's the difference. Our "liberal" agenda is about choice - it doesn't force anyone to marry a gay partner or have an abortion, while theirs is about taking away choice, making things they don't personally like illegal.
I'll never understand why it's so important for GOP to control everybody else. It's not enough for them to live their lives how they see fit, they want to ensure we all live our lives the way they see fit.
Maybe this is why they're always reading motives into DEM actions that aren't there. When we suggest better gun control, they hear "DEMs want to take away all guns." When we say "healthcare for all," they hear "DEMs want to take away my doctor."

Yeah, I know it's a religious thing for them, but I don't get that, either. Why this need among religious folk to force religion on others? Why not just live according to your beliefs & give a satisfied smirk you're going to heaven & those heathens are not? Why FORCE it on us?
They're not forcing religion on us because they care if we're saved or not. They hate us. Some are extreme enough to want to kill us for abortion or being gay. It's no loving desire to save our souls motivating them. So WHY must they pass laws forcing us to live as they see fit?
It's ironic how GOP sold themselves for so long as wanting government to stay out of people's lives. They claim to want federal government to keep out of personal lives. But that only means they don't want government forcing them to be fair to others.
They don't want government telling them they have to rent to blacks or pay women equally or make their businesses accessible to the handicapped.
But they're FINE with government regulating women's bodies or anyone's sexuality.

They're fine with controlling us & forcing us to pray Christian prayers in schools or insinuating themselves into our personal lives. Their philosophy is not "live & let live" (so long as no one else is harmed). Their mantra is "live according to how I believe you should live."
