Thousands of children will spend Xmas alone, terrified they'll never see their parents again. Likely, they won't.

How have we moved on from this cruelty? Media has completely abandoned it.

I have lost all joy in the holiday. I don't want to decorate or write cards or buy presents. None of that matters anymore. Instead, I want us to march, despite the cold, despite the powerlessness we feel. Why can't we get out there by the millions?

I don't believe things are well in those camps. Some were outdoor tents! Are they still using those? Why are they blocking access? Why have we heard of no more deaths? Are we to believe they improved so much kids stopped dying? Or are they still dying, but no one's telling us?

And the parents! Every one of us would consider life worthless if our own kids were taken. Imagine the holidays for parents who don't know where their kids are or if they're alive or abused or think parents abandoned them.

I can't celebrate this year. It feels wrong to try.

What's really upsetting me lately is the many people who willfully ignore what's going on. I'm not talking about MAGA - they're willfully supporting it.

I mean people who refuse to pay attention, who don't want to "talk politics" as if it's politics & nothing more.

They want to watch Netflix, play games, tune it out. If you ask them, they dislike Trump. They just don't care much. They don't get what's happening & don't WANT to know. Life goes on.

To me, they're as bad as MAGA. They don't want to hear about kids anymore. It "upsets" them.

People like this, I'm realizing, are how Hitler happened. You don't need that many Nazis to commit great atrocities. What you DO need is for a lot of people to turn away, decide it's too stressful to think about, & do nothing, say nothing, pretend they don't know.

When I tell some people how depressed I feel, how I can't enjoy Xmas & don't want to try, they urge me to stop watching the news. That's the answer - stop watching news. How many of you have been told this?

Apparently, if we stop watching news, bad things no longer happen.

I never dreamed what's happening in America could happen. Yet, here we are.

If we lose democracy, which is looking more likely every day, it's because we lacked imagination to see where we're headed & many of us didn't want to imagine.

How many of you have been advised to stop focusing on Trump & politics & you'll be much happier?

"It's not like you can do anything about it."

I hear this constantly. It's the kind of attitude that will destroy us.
