We want to create a revolving door VC firm.

We want founders to join our team, spend a few years helping support other founders, leave to start their next thing (we'll even put up the initial $$), and then we want them years later (succeed or fail) to come back.

Why? 👇

This is the only way to keep founder empathy high.

Everyone on the @fiftyyears team is a former founder, so we naturally have high empathy for the founder journey. But the more time we spend on the investing side, the more disconnected we'll be from the founder experience.

On top of that, best practices of running a startup change year by year. The longer one is away from operating, the more stale knowledge becomes. We want to always be up to date on best in class tools & tactics. A revolving door solves this too.

The obvious downside is organizational disruption. People leaving every few years creates challenges but we think the benefits will far outweigh them.

We want to create a place great founders pay forward their know-how, experience & networks before jumping back in the ring.
