1. In boxing, a fighter rarely accepts that they are losing. Even when they have been knocked down several times, they keep getting up to beat the count. Boxing rules have a way for the boxer to be saved from himself. If the ref doesn’t stop it, his corner can throw in the towel
2. In politics, if they truly care & if they have any decency & dignity, governments would accept that they are failing. They would throw in the towel. This is not a common occurrence because politicians, like the boxer in the ring, have too much pride. They keep at it.
3. This is why they need a nudge; a reminder that it’s ok to leave the stage and try another time. The boxer has his people in his corner. If they see him taking punishment, they step in to save him. The cornermen of the government are the people.
4. The government is showing yet another sign of being overwhelmed by the currency war. This command and control strategy was always going to struggle. The market would always rebel. They were warned but they remained adamant. Now here we are: the taxman is following the market.
