There're two things for which I'll never give any man my hard-earned money: wedding & naming ceremony. If you aren't financially solvent enough to fund your own wedding, you're probably not prepared for the long haul of marriage. No law of nature says you must marry if you can't
afford it. And if, in the 9 months your wife has been pregnant, you're not able to raise enough money to finance your child's naming ceremony, you probably shouldn't have one. My dad told me that when I was born, he didn't slaughter d traditional ram that Muslims slaughter, even
though he was an Islamic cleric, and didn't have a naming ceremony. It hasn't diminished my humanity. Nor did it make him a lesser father. All my relatives know never to ask me to contribute to their wedding and naming-ceremony expenses.
Giving a gift after the fact is an entirely different matter.
