Here’s the LA County DA debate, where DA Lacey faces two challengers from the left, Rossi (a public defender running for DA) and Gascon (who was SF DA until he resigned last fall to run in LA):
Is Jackie Lacey going to respond to any of the claims that her opponents are raising about her *record* in the LA DA’s office, or is she just going to say that Gascon is bad and ignore the actual things they say? (Also, would be interesting if she actually addressed Rossi, too.)
Lacey says she still supports the death penalty. As a Democrat. In 2020. In California.

Unacceptable.
If you’re a DA with a bad record who’s hidden from public events despite being in a Democratic primary with TWO challengers to the left of you, guess what ... you’re probably going to get heckled when you finally show up to an event and it’s at a 900-person auditorium.
The moderators are doing well w their questions, but their assessment of the many protests of Lacey—and the one moderator’s seeming annoyance w the protests—fails to understand voters’ anger with Lacey and her policies. Why not ask her about it, instead of shushing protesters?
“I’m the only person on this stage who has not sought cash bail.” - Rachel Rossi
Lacey says it would be “irresponsible” to elect Rossi, a public defender, to run the DA’s office. (Several other public defenders who had never worked in the DA’s office have run and won.)
Lacey, being dismissive of Rossi, says a prosecutor needs to know “what a prosecutor is about.” 👀
