On the 1st anniversary of the Hayne Royal Commission we can reflect on how the toxic behaviours & work practices of the finance sector were laid bare for all to see. Whatever the shortfalls of the RC the sector has an opportunity to reset especially with its workers.
The workers are the forgotten people of this saga. Rarely mentioned in the media is the mental & physical toll placed on workers as the sector sought to squeeze profits from any & everything. There is now a chance to reform these work practices.
We are bargaining or about to enter bargaining with 2 of the big 4 banks. We’ll get a fix on what, if any, influence Hayne has had on them. I’ll keep you posted.
