The proposed Drugs and Magic Remedies Amendment Bill 2020 defines Magic Remedies ( in line with the existing act ) as - "magic remedy‟ includes a talisman, *mantra*, kavacha, and any other charm of any kind which is alleged to possess miraculous powers for or in the diagnosis,
cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of any disease in human beings or animals or for affecting or influencing in any way the structure or any organic function of the body of human beings or animals".
This may adversely affect the use of mantras such as Mrityunjaya Mantra

and thousands of mantras from the Vedas which are there for health benefits. The ministry of Health and Family welfare has called for suggestions from stake holders regarding this bill. Those who can persuade the decision makers should make effort to bring it to their notice and
try to get the term *"Mantra"* removed from the scope of the bill so that chanting / propagation / use of mantras does not become a crime.

In fact our system has this 'Mani,Mantra&Aushadham' idea where several of our problems incldng health issues or otherwise r addressed by wearing some Mani.I.e.Precious stones or even talisman like things2ward off evil forces along with Mantraprayoga.
