I'm going to talk on the topic 'agriculture & Brahmins, a vedic perspective' in a two days workshop under d concept "Rshi & Krishi" organized by few entrepreneurs&honchos of corporates.
My research on this topic has given me fresh ideas & am going to make a paper on it soon.👍

Vedas talk on all aspects of agriculture, its greatness&utility. कृषिश्च मे वृष्टिश्च मे जैत्रं च मे औद्भिद्यंच मे,अन्नं चमेऽक्षुच्च मे,कृष्टपच्यं च मेऽकृष्टपच्यं च मे etc r all standing testimony to d claim made. Cultivation of land, samskara of seeds, season, rains r part of it

निकामे निकामे न:पर्जन्यो वर्षतु फलिन्यो न औषधय:पच्यन्तां योगक्षेमो न:कल्पताम् is a universal prayer which stresses d importance of agriculture.
Brahmins of today r doing everything which is not suggested as profession for them by our ancestors. This happened due 2 many reasons

But returning to our original vocations (6+2=8 karmas) need to start from agriculture which is originally a means for vaisyas only. But we need to move from here to 1st position slowly but steadily as Sankaracharya himself said, ब्राह्मणत्वस्य हि रक्षणेन रक्षित:स्याद्वैदिको धर्म:

That until brahminhood is protected, vaidik dharma can't b protected. That brahminhood is key2protection of vaidik dharma, Sankara says. Hence brahmins who entered into service sector, i.e 4th varna on emergency, need2find their feet in 3rd varna I.e.agri&husbandary thru whilch

Enter ino their original vocation of addhyayanam,addhyayanam, addhyāpanam,yajanam, yājanam,dānam,pratigraham. So the effort is to reestablish d order of vaidik dharma thru agriculture is perceived to be 1of d options to take up.

& temples simply based on belief that the agriculture produce wud be used on dharmic avenues. Brahmins won't keep excessive grains. Temples too will cook rice& distribute it as prasadams to all needy. So socialism is nurtured by our kings thru these methods.

Lands nowadays as much of their land was taken over by Govts of day & today we face a precarious situation where distribution of resources is not properly taken care of. Temple lands too r lost snatched by Govts & they are left in lurch w/o puja&neivedyam being offered. Let's set
